A t56 faceplated with good internals is fine, mine doesn't even have viper shafts.

It's gonna take a good clutch no doubt. Ignition cut type shifting would never wouldn't lose boost. And you manhood would still be intact with a man pedal.
obviously I was talking about just the transmission. Even when you figure in the converter..... still cheaper. And I don't know this to be true, as I've never run a faceplated transmission..... but don't they wear out faster.... and make driving on the street a real chore?

manual = labor of love

automatic = no labor (love depends on what kind of auto I guess)

Not if you can drive a stick. I have 40k miles on my faceplated t56. Recently put the stock shifter back in it and you almost don't know it's faceplated.

I'll keep my t56 and muh doodads.

Let's line up at the track, then we can discuss further.

This is true. Let's hook it up at the 1/4 mile type, this 400 never misses..... shifts quicker than I ever could when I was still running the t56. And as a bonus, the boost gauge stays pegged till i let off

Sounds like you couldn't shift that fast before. Guys like you need autos i suppose

We can do all the styles of tracks. I bet i win more with my stick car. You're stuck with one.

Oh no.... don't get it twisted. I can shift as fast as anyone, was just always scared of killing the transmission.... hence no power shifting. The one time I got aggressive at the track....destroyed the worm gears. Guys like me.... that want to go fast....yes....automatic. And before you start the "can go as fast or faster with a stick" argument......you're dead wrong. There isn't a soul living that can out shift an automatic, and it remain intact. There's a reason the fast guys use 350s and the ever popular...tried and true 400.

Lol, I have faith in the manual that's for sure! But I'd give you the hit and keep mine on wastegate just to make it sorta fair!

I don't power shift either. Errybody thinks they can shift fast......especially the guys that went auto lol

But a ignition cut faceplated t56 would hang right there with a auto. I have no turbo just a bolt on ls6 so you likely out power me by alot but the stick is far mire versitile and fun to drive.

I'll be happy with a 1.4 60 ft once I slap on the 28 inch slicks this fall.

1.52 spinning so far, stage 2 t56, monster 3, moser 12 bolt, tokico shocks. Nothing fancy but gets the job done for a car that sees the track a few times a year.

I think the 60 tends to be more about power management than all out power.

What exactly is the deal with a faceplated trans? Advantages, disadvantages....

^This. I never broke my 10 bolt even at 600rwhp. But as soon as I swapped to a 9" and tried leaving off the 2 step, I snapped the pinion yoke. Replaced it with a billet yoke and set the 2 step to 4k slipping the clutch=multiple 1.5 sixty foots at 3800lbs. Blue99fbody has now been, what 8.06 with his 6 speed? Just takes more time and setup to get it right.

While that car is indeed fast, it's not exactly a garden variety 6 speed either. Not sure what it weighs, but I've seen the car in person (hard to imagine it being heavy) ....and it's a completely stripped down racecar that gets pushed to the burnout box. We're talking street cars here.

There's plenty of fast 6 speed cars and plenty of those are street cars. Nobody is arguing its easier to go faster with an auto. Thats a given. Racing an auto is like owning a Nissan GTR- point and shoot.

lol yours isn't the only one that changed Even if the auto dropped 1.5 seconds off your time you would still be slower then my car on gate despite me having a horrible manual trans!

If anything I hoped you would swap out that little turbo. I know how that little turbo performs and it just doesn't make enough jams to hang. Once you get the rear sorted out and get a bigger turbo (or add another one) I can see the car going a good bit faster.
