00' 6spd Z28 228/230 Jegs Cam Bolt on 1/4 mile

Just to get away for a night, I went out to Royal Purple Raceway to make some passes. Royal Purple fills with complete dipshits about 9:30-10:00 so I only made three passes and then rolled out.

The car is full weight with a 10" sub and amp. 3440lbs. I weighed it on the way home on a CAT scale.
The rear is a Pyle Brothers built 9" with a Strange 3.90:1 posi and Moser axles.:barf:
The rest is simple bolt ons that we got here and there. I apologize to all the guys that are going to start in on the "you could be faster if", but it is what it is.

Nice looking car you have there.

codyvette 04-01-2018 01:33 PM

Thanks. It just seems to stick with me for some reason. It is where I got started in the LS think.

Hardtop Brian 04-01-2018 05:56 PM

What was the DA?

codyvette 04-01-2018 06:18 PM

I didn't look. Usually I try to but what you get off the interwebs isn't usually very accurate and I did not have a weather station. I was really there just to bang some gears.

Hardtop Brian 04-01-2018 06:23 PM

Ok. I have the same cam on 112 lsa and self ported 799s. Hoping to trap 120-121 at 3300lb rw, but saw low mph and was curious about the DA.

Cody do you have a pic of the car from the back of the car? I want to see that spoiler.

Hardtop Brian 04-01-2018 07:06 PM

28" tire?

HCI2000SS 04-01-2018 07:12 PM

Yep I see 6-speed in the title now. Missed it before. MPH is a bit low no doubt, but if conditions were bad that could explain a good bit of it

sxc Z28 04-01-2018 07:24 PM

Always good to take some time and hit the track for a mini vacation.

You got better 60' every pass. Keep going man. Don't pay attention to the lights just focus on good launch and hit your shifts. Goodluck

I can snap one tomorrow but it is just the factory RS spoiler. I don't like them but it is not a car I really spend money on any more.

Yes, with LS7 clutch.:eek2: The too tall tires also make it poopy but they are left overs from another build. The car just barely gets into 4th gear. I will eventually throw on some much shorter tires and give it another go but my race car is almost ready so it will probably be a while before I go out just for the hell of it with this car. It may even be an auto by then if I can find the time.

The better 60' each pass was from turning up the 2 step each time. I usually cut some pretty consistent low lights. I have been bracket racing for a long time but have been lacking the last couple of years for building the family a new crib. If I had a good clutch I would be dumping the clutch @ 5500.

I see you don't like the 9" rear. May I ask why?

Is the front sway bar still on the car?
is the spare tire and Jack still in the car ?

codyvette 04-04-2018 01:37 PM

The 9" is fine. I have had several of them in several applications. The Moser axles suck. The register isn't long enough to engage the wheel hub.

The sway bar is gone. The jack and tire are there.

slow trap 04-14-2018 10:16 AM

get that 60" and u be rolling. hit those shifts and be in 11's.

01CamaroSSTx 04-14-2018 10:27 AM

Hey Cody,

You mentioned a CAT scale is this at the track? I'd like to know what my car weighs after the mods. I too could shed a few pounds these cars aren't the easiest to climb in and out of anymore.

codyvette 04-14-2018 09:14 PM

There is a scale at Royal Purple but it was jacked up. There are Cat certified scales at almost all Loves stations it is $11 to weigh whatever you want and it's open 24/7. I weighed just about everything I have from my haul trailer to my 1/2 ton daily.
