First time at the track with the FRC

First time with the car. PRC stage 1 heads, Torquer V2, Fast 92, 4.10 gears with 255/50/16 ET streets. Had a blast, learning to launch with drag radials takes some practice. Question tho, previous tuner has limiter set at 6500. Am I giving up any noticeable ET or MPH compared to say shifting at 7k? Really like to get an 11.25 out of this combo. Thanks.

I'd be shifting more like 6500-6700. If the limiter is at 6500 then you're probably shifting more like 6200-6300. I think you might be giving up a little

Op u could be giving up some, Dyno it and see where your peak numbers are, and go from there as far as where you think your limiter and shift points should be

I do have a dyno sheet from previous owner. I can find peak numbers for sure but what should I be looking for shift wise? It's a manual vette with 4.10 gears. Thanks!

6800 to 7000k is a good rpm shift point in a manual ls1. Once you shift it really puts you back in the sweet spot. But just have to try and see what the car likes!

99blkfrc99, if you can post a clear pic of the said Dyno sheet we would be happy to help you furher. I checked your other thread on heads and mph, let’s start with improving you seat time and where you optimum shift points should be..

it appears they spun it to 6800 on the dyno but the limiter is at 6500 currently. What ya think? Thanks for the help.

z28241 12-21-2018 08:36 PM

Op IMO raise limiter to 7-7100 and shift that at 6700.. u can see it’s starting to lose power after that, give that combo a try before jumping the gun on mods. .since the limiter was at 6500 what were you shifting at?

99blkfrc99 12-21-2018 09:18 PM

As soon as the needle past 6k I would shift. I never hit the limiter in any of my runs so probably 6200 or 6300.

z28241 12-21-2018 09:29 PM

Right so you get that limiter raised and run that out a little more before powers shifts and see where your at then should be going into fourth nicely before the traps with w.the 4.10,s

Get a shift light, shift at 6900.

I agree with the guys. Spin that thing a bit more & it should like it. Great job man! Def more room for improvement on getting the 60' down a bit more.

99blkfrc99 12-22-2018 06:43 AM

Thanks for the help. I only got 4 runs in that day. 2.4,2.2,2.0,1.8 60 foots with ET's accordingly. Just learning to launch a stick on DR's is interesting. I'll get to the tuner soon to raise my limiter, but I gotta wait until April to run again. Damn winter. 🙂

Worse DA today but looks like raising the rev limiter picked up a couple more mph in the back half.

Nice runs man.

Thanks. Finally got a decent 60 on the last run. Launching a 6 spd with radials is interesting.
