If you are going to run N/A bump your compression and definitely loosen the converter up. Converter alone could drastically change your times. All about the set-up!

Thanks.... i call tell by the pistons that the compression ratio is hurting the performance naturally aspirated and a 3500 stall is also hurting the performance of the car. A 3500 stall is good for a bolt on car not no cammed stroker.

As others said It is how the car is setup. My untouched stock 98 LS1 engine back in the day that put 300 hp to wheels ran 7.60's all day long in my Formula at over 3,600 lbs. It even ran a few 7.50s. For that matter in Hot weather currently with the engine that is in It now that produces 400 hp to the wheels it runs 6.80's and has run a best of 6.60. It sets at 3,300 lbs. now.

Not sure if this helps any but It does show a car performing like you would want to see.

I was disappointed in that. Was hoping for closer to 450. But I know being an auto and having a 9 inch that will make a big difference on a dyno.

Finally took it to track last night and best it would do was 7.77 at 89mph in the 1/8. Also ran a 7.89 at 89mph. I was expecting it to do a lot better at the track. Were my expectations too high or is the car doing about what would be expected given the low compression and that its set up for a blower? TIA for any advice or views.
My heads, cam, intake 6 speed run 6.98 @101 in teh 1/8th with about 150-200 pounds of weight out of the car. Hvae not had it on a dyno yet but its got to be making around 470 wheel. I ran that at Shadyside dragway in Shelby, NC. Not sure if you have ever been to that track. The weather was nice and cool.

Yeh I'm going to do some things to lighten it up. Nothing drastic though. I know those TTM 17 inch wheels are heavy as crap. I'm gonna go aluminum wheels, look into a light battery, pull the spare and jack. Easy stuff but I'm not gonna start gutting it. I'm gonna run it across a scale and see what it weighs before and after.

Yeah my 2000 cam only ran 7.1 @ 94. Your car is super slow for the mods.. even with the low compression IMO

Trust me I agree. I'm not really sure what to do with it. I bought the engine used from a site sponsor. Then I had it gone through by a different site sponsor. I had the pistons changed and the cam changed. I'm very very reluctant to spend anymore money on it. Let alone another $10,000 to do the blower. The question is why is it so slow even with that compression? The tune was done by a well-known shop here in NC. And he use to do the tuning for one of the most well-known sponsors on this site. I do know I was shocked when it only made 412 on the dyno. But I mean it made what it made.

What were your expectations? The motor is 2 points low on compression and going through a stalled auto and a 9". You built it for boost, why are you caring about N/A numbers and times? Its not optimized for N/A. I bet on 10 PSI with a good blower it'll do 650whp on 93 octane.

I was thinking more around 450. But numbers I'm not really concerned about. I look to track times/mph. I just want to make sure its running well as is before putting the blower/turbo on it. If something isn't right I want to get that ironed out first. I may just be overthinking it. Ha ha.

You're over thinking it. Boost that thing!

Finally weighed it. Car is 3520 as it sits now. With me in it its 3800. So I guess the times were about what's expected at that Weight and HP.

Seems reasonable given the weight. Time for blower.

UPDATE: So finally got the car back to the track yesterday. I got rid of the 17 inch wheels and 26 inch MT drag radials. Running Race Star 15x5 in the front, 15x10 in the back with 275/60/15 MT drag radials. I had to go to all adjustable pieces on the suspension to get the tires to fit. So I changed the wheels/tires and yesterday was 65 degrees as opposed to around 92-93 degrees like last May. Everything else all the same as last year. I did take the spare and jack out. The first pass was the best. I was very very pleased with the car yesterday. Basically a wheel/tire change and 30 degrees cooler weather picked the car up 4-5 tenths and 4-5mph. I rounded up on those two passes and said it was actually 94 mph it was so close. Ha ha. I think the car is now about where it should be for the low compression I have. The two 60fts in the 1.5's I was really happy with. Wish I had a video. I will next time.

Here are my time slips 1-4.

Another thing. On the second pass with the 7.53 I left at 2100 rpm. The other 3 passes I left a little off idle and just flashed the converter. It seems to like that better as it runs quicker that way.
