Default MIR Testing 10/01/04: 6.4 @ 108

We headed down to MIR tonight to make a few passes and try to get the air/fuel && timing dialed in. The weather was perfect, low 70s with decent pressure. Here's my setup:
346 + H & C(232/238) 12.25:1 CR
TNT 150 shot
CCW drag package

First pass I went easy and short shifted it. The launch felt great, 6k + 150 shot out of the hole led to a 1.41 60' 1/8 mile was 6.7 @ 102 and ended the pass @ 10.40 @ 132. For some reason the car felt soft in the top 2 gears. Who knows why...

Second pass I made a motor pass with 18 degrees of timing. Pulled out of the hole nice with a 5k launch(1.57 60') and went 11.10 @ 125. The logger showed the A/F and timing rock solid(13.7 && 18 degrees).

The third pass was the interesting one. The burnout felt weird, almost like I broke something. I staged the car and left @ 5800 on the spray, 1.46 60'. The car felt much stronger than it did in the first pass. At the top of third it started popping from the exhaust so I let out. 1/8 6.4 @ 108. I crossed the traps again @ 10.4 @ 111.

What kind of plugs should I be running with this combo? Anyone have any thoughts?
Phil

I am going to pull the plugs tonight. It drove fine on the way home. Considering it was popping at the top of 3rd and I coasted to a 10.4 @ 111, I had a pretty big smile.

Phill, larry01z28 was out there with you in his Black 01 Z also. He said it was a vette there flying down the track. Dunno if you saw his car, but he has the TEA 1.5 heads and 224 cam and he was running 10.91@123(NA) there with you.

Congrats on your et's man

98TAauto,
Yeah I saw the 01 Z, it looked pretty sick. He has some big slicks and skinnies on the car? It looks like it is setup very nice. Whats Bruce been up to?

01-Z,
How much are you spraying? What fuel are you running?

Taner,
Thanks man, I am trying to break into the 9s and keep the tranny intact. After seeing a 1.41 60' on a basically unpreped track I really think that 1.37-9 60's are possible. Don't think anyone has done that before in a C5.

I think Bruce is going back to the being able to enjoy his car and still race some route.. last i heard he was putting the AC back in since you guys are getting to fast for us to keep up with. Im taking the same route for a few untill i get some bills inline but by then everyone on here will be running 9's LOL

Larry's car had 28inch tires and skinnies on here. He tried the 27's but she was tapping the limiter right before the traps. I think he went back there today but dunno how well he did..

stay slow man

I would run colder than a 6 on the hose especially with the compression you are running Phil.

Is it evident on motor as well?

Would higher octane gas help? I am debating running straight 116 on the hose.

either way you slowing the burn down, but at some point a too hot plug is gonan turn into a glowplug

I think you ok on the 150, but if your gonan hit it with 2XX, probbaly start looking at another plug

Anythin that doeesnt mind being driven around on? Non projected nose stuff probably wont like it. TEA had a plug in theirs they said drove ok without fouling

just don't dead hook at the line, you are launching high and hard....good !!! my motor loves c16...especially on the big shot. plus VP C16 is formulated for nitrous, helps prevent detonation.

Larry,
Hey man, I said to my buddie "I wonder if he is on LS1tech.com". I was going to come over and check out your hot rod but we were working on my car most of the night trying different suspension setups. Next weekend we're going to move to straight 116 octane, -8 plugs, and a 200 shot.

Taner,
What oxygen sensors are you running? Denso?
