Default Patriot LS6 Heads/F13 Cam (Track Results)

Took the car to the track Friday night for the first time in over a year. Wanted to see how well she would run with the current setup. I made three passes and on all three I know I didn't drive it to the full potential. After the car seemed to go above 60mph, it would wander really bad. It was so bad on my first pass that I let out of it becuase I didn't feel I had control of the car. I don't have the slips handy, but this is a break down of the three runs.

First Pass (let out 11sec run)
60' - 1.75
1/8 - 7.68
mph - 92.X
1/4 - 12.02
mph - 104.X

Second Pass
60' - 1.83
1/8 - 7.86
mph - 91.x
1/4 - 12.07
mph - 117.8

Third Pass
60' - 1.81
1/8 - 7.81
mph - 92.X
1/4 - 12.03
mph - 117.9

I don't doubt this car has a mid-low 11 sec pass in it with the right air.

DA+2500 with a raceweight of 3600lbs. I do not have a front sway bar but didn't feel this would cause the car to wonder. 26" ET streets with about 12psi in them. Didn't realize that until we were at the track and there was no air to put in them. Any reason why the car would sway back and forth as bad as it does?

Temp ~ 76*
Dew Point ~ 73*
Humidity ~ 91%
Pressure ~ 29.96
Track Elevation - 900'

Thanks to Futral and Patriot!!! I am really happy with this combo and the results.

Great times. Really good mph for the weather. Do you know what kind of power you're making? Judging by the mph and raceweight, I'd say your up there. Good job.

Thanks for the compliments!! No man I have no clue. I honestly don't care about dyno numbers as long as she runs good at the track. I have tuned it personally with EFI Live and a wideband on the street. I would be happy if she put down around 415-420.

No Jerami I didn't get the chance. With my old TEA Heads and 224 cam, the best I could get was a 12.0@116. That is with damn near perfect air in October. DA was around -100 on that run with a much better 60'. The only changes from that run to this are the heads/cam. I am really stoked with the times and mph considering the weight and humidity. It was bloody nasty Friday night.

Oh, on the TEA/F11 combo, the only time I ran it was in the 1/8th with again, LOT better air.

60' - 1.86
1/8 - 7.76
mph - 93.6

That setup according to Speed Incs dyno did 407/380.

If you have 275's up front and they are pretty well worn this would cause wondering also if your back shocks are bad it will give you a speed boat feel of wondering while under heavy acceleration. Hope this helps.

et streets @ 12psi is probably why it felt like it was wandering...

at around 16-18 pounds i feel some "wandering" at around 100mph...

you need some lower 60's and better weather...put some air into the tires...you will hook fine with 16psi or more and it shouldn't wander...at least until a higher mph...

Thanks Mike. I hope the next time I make it out I can get some better air as well as some more air. LOL I don't see why I can't pull a mid to high 1.6 with the current setup. I was only launching the car around 3500-4000 rpms.

Put some slicks on it and launch at 5-6k.. That will knock another 2 tenths off your time. Probably pick up another 2 tenths with good weather..

Yea its the ET streets that are giving you the wondering feeling. I hated mine so I have been with DR's ever since. I do ok with DR's though, I have pulled 1.71's with BFG's I just got some MT Dr's 325/50/15's and hopefully I will be able to get some 1.6's with those with stock suspension. Good times though, what are you shifting at? I want to get a set of these heads so bad for the unbeatable price but with their track record in the past I'm kinda scared too.

You can't mix bias plys on the rear and radials on the front. They have differnet handling characteristics. You can only have bias plys on the front, and radials on the rear, but not the other way around. That is wher ethe swaying comes from. It s a factor of the way the construction of the two tires reacts to sterring input, etc...

Its not to say I haven't done it ona couple of occasions, in fact lots of folks have. But, it can cause issues, and can cause you to loose it if the car is fast... Alos you have to be very delicate with steering input., Best rule of thumb is to have as et of front runners if you are going to run ET streets.

Dunno man but that is what it weighed with me in it at Rockingham dragway. I have no power options either. I thought I would be lighter than most guys but not that much lighter. I have done some things since then but not much for weight reduction. Posts like this are really swaying my opinion on Patriot heads. They definatley seem like the best bang for buck heads. That is really what I'm looking for too.

I have heard that this may be an issue but what do guys like myself have for choices that only go to the track maybe 2-3 times a year?

I replaced the TEA heads with these for a few reasons. I have beat the crap out of the car with them on it and so far no problems. I have used them for over 5k miles since January without a hitch. Gunnar really took care of me and treated me awsome.
