Race Report 5/27 - 1/4 points and National Dragster Challenge
Under another sunny (and hot) afternoon I got in my latest race. This time we're running 1/4-mile points and also the National Dragster challenge, with the big prize, A Wally, landing in the hands of 3 class champions.
After trying to negotiate hot track conditions (138 degree temps to start), I screwed up and found the red-bulb glowing 1st round. Was disgusted with myself, then decided to buy-back in.
Round 2: I'm facing a good friend (last year's Wally winner from King of the Track) running an 11.26 dial to my 11.55 dial-in. My .028 light to his .043 light, I have a tiny amount of room to scrub the brakes and go 11.563 to his 11.272 (Margin Of Victory: .0143).
Round 3: tree'd the guy I'm running .007 to .132 and backed off for an 11.646 winning run.
Round 4: bye run
Round 5: Racing a multi-time track champ in a '93 Mustang dialed 12.83 to my 11.54. His .002 light to my .019 bulb, I barely catch him and scrub the stripe down for an 11.561 to 12.884 victory (MOV: .0167).
Round 6 & 7 - Semi and final of footbrake: both opponents red-light, so I'm in the Combo finals (electronics winner vs. footbrake winner for the Wally).
I'm running a '57 Chevy dialed 10.49 to my 11.50. My .012 light to his .027 light, I get to 1200 feet and decide I have a little room, so brake check again and get the win light, 11.517 to his 10.510 (MOV: .0184).
Wally #6 enters the collection, and if you'd ask me before 1st round I'd have said "No way" on my chances!
A short track write-up: http://www.gainesvilleraceway.com/ap...2863&zoneid=65
Me and the newest member of the family (among friends in the winner's circle): http://www.gainesvilleraceway.com/ap...3821&zoneid=66
my last 3 races:
4 finals; 3 wins and 3-in-a-row!
Hope everyone had a good extended weekend, post up your results!

Coach,
I'm not kicking butt in Summit ET bracket points due to a few things:
#1 - I've lost both 1/4-mile points nights in round 1, and missed #3 due to family things.
#2 - I've missed 3 of 4 1/8-mile races. The only one I've made so far I went to the finals, but due to missing the rest I sit in 20th I believe.
However I'm 2nd in Open Comp points!
I'm racing on Saturday (1/8-mile), then hopefully get the car cleaned up in time for Hot Rod Power Tour hitting Gainesville for stop #1 on Sunday.
George,
Bring up the bike, we miss ya up here!
Thanks for all the kind words people!
Derek
