PINKS....why, why, why???
Why are these racers betting their cars for a 1/2 hour show???
I don't get it.
I just saw a guy lose a beautiful big block Nova with the fire paint on it and everything.
I like to watch the show because of the racing but I really feel for these racers that lose their cars at the end. I don't get why people participate, I just don't.

Most of the cars on there have a bunch of stickers on them, I'm betting most of the parts were super cheap/free. If you lose, you had a good time, and if you are a race shop, you got some advertising. If you win you come home with the original car that was built at a discount, plus another free car. Get enough people together, and do some work aquiring sponsors, and losing can't really be that big of a loss for most of these guys.

+1, my thoughts exactly John.
No head starts = the one with the most money in his/her car wins. Sounds fair to me.
Let's kill bracket racing while we're at it
So, hypothetically speaking, if you showed up with a 9 second car, and the guy you were supposed to race shows up with an 8 second car, are you still going to run straight heads-up?
I wouldn't run it, i've got way too much time and $ in my cars to risk it for 1/2 hour of entertainment.

Like the one guy said, I think some of these guys are sponsored to run their cars, and lose minimal money. Heck, the advertising alone for these shops probably outweighs the cost of the car they are betting.
I don't agree with the guys running on a pro tree, or not using car lengths. It's suppose to duplicate "street racing", with a guy dropping his hands to signal a race. I don't agree with some of the car lengths that alot of people are given (Especially what happened to that female driver in the mustang to the other mustang, as it was obvious that the redneck was outclassed by her driving skill wise, but he whined for hours to win the car by getting over a car length head start).

Then the guy with the 9 sec car should STFU towards the 8 sec guy or race heads up.
