New mods, same times as stock?
Alright, i've run at the track numerous times with a catback and cutout. 13.5 @ 103 was my most consistant time in cooler fall / winter weather, about a year and a few months ago.
I now have mods listed in sig minus the y2k rims instead 18" zo6 rims that are obviously heavier, but they have drag radials in the back ( which I did not heat up while racing )
I raced for my first time w/ those mods ( lt's , lid' etc..) and ran a great 13.5@103 TWICE. Same 60ft time and everything. Now I know that my car is running pretty rich after the longtube install and air/egr removal, but shouldnt it have atleast gained something without a tune? On the way to the track I went WOT , and the car behinid me said black smoke was pouring out, which is the second time i've heard this since i had the lt's installed. My car has 126k miles and is an a4.

Yea it sounds like my car on the kit with 850psi of bottle pressure. You definitely need a tune. You'd be suprised what a little tune would do.

my car gained 6 mph in the 1/4 by adding full exhaust, with no tune. it also blew black smoke for the first few WOT passes, after that it was fine. adding headers usually will only run it rich at idle, and lean(er) that optimal at high rpm. the wheels are slowing you down more than you think. my buddy went from stock 00 z28 rims to 17x9 front / 17x11 rear and lost a solid 2 mph in the 1/4.

Rims and the pro kit probably are causing a lot of the slow times, would a panhard bar help?

Weather will have a huge affect on your car's performance. You ran a 13.5 @ 103 in cold/great weather a couple of years ago, and now you ran a 13.5 @ 103 with mods in summer time? That is pretty good I would say, but to actually see if you gained anything you would have to wait until you can race in similar conditions as you did stock.

Another note of encouragement to get a tune, the extra power is there ya just gotta free it up. On my ex-Formula after adding LT's and a cam it too ran pretty well the same times/traps previous to the mods. But with just a simple MAFT and ATap (car was running pig rich too) tune it picked up almost 5 mph and 4 tenths.

MAFT= Maf Translator - allows you to adjust idle and WOT fuel settings.
ATap= AutoTap - a scanning program that allows you to monitor various sensors in real time. In this case Ltrims after adjusting the MAFT settings. It's a band aid approach to tuning, but with no dyno in my area, it was the best solution available - along with track testing.
