First run with car...

Ran the car 1st time today, the track was cold and wet. 40 degrees and was misting/drissling on and off all day untill they pulled the plug. Got 2 runs in at least. For the 2 runs the tires were set to 25psi did a healthy 2nd gear burnout. It just smoked right threw 1st and 2nd I didnt even stuff it either. It wasnt the tires either, everyone was having traction issues. Time slip looked like this.

60' 2.260
1/8 8.638
MPH 87.1
1/4 13.180
MPH 107.97

2nd run I forgot to put it from 2nd into drive after the burnout, it hit the limiter until I bumped it up into drive.

60' 2.447
1/4 13.560
MPH 107.51

In between the rain delays I figured I would go and top off the tank (had 1/4) and drop the pressure's to 20psi for some added traction but never got the chance to try it. So with traction and the 60' at 1.90 what do you think my times should be? Next time I goto the track the stall will be in, I just wanted to get a base line.

I dont see 1.90s, maybe 2.0x's. either way - i say you've got 12.9x in it if u get the driver mod down.

I think 1.90 are doable, people get that on street tires. In nice weather these tires dead hook on the street and the car has real good weight transfer from weight reduction, !swaybar etc.. And the driver mod was down, the track and the weather just sucked... I would of had better luck running studded snow tires.

Jantzer98SS 04-06-2008 10:12 PM

I'm not sure your stock converter will get you 1.90 but if it did I would guestimate 12.7. I think 2.0X is more likely and high 12.8x's.

dochall22 04-06-2008 10:31 PM

Pretty much what I was thinkin - but with the 3.23 I figured 12.8s was pushing it.

either way i hope he runs high 11s, not doggin at all - just tryin to be real

You hit the nail on the head... :D Went back to run 12.765@109 1.99 60' track was still kinda cold, couldnt really stuff it.

There you go, nice run! Now get that converter installed.

Right on! Congrats.

I know how fun that is. Keep after it. You'll have it in the 10's in a couple years.

My guess with verter is...

1.78 60ft
12.3X
112

Those are the times im hoping for....im looking for some different tires maybe some BFG drag t/a. Dont know about 10's, going to try to keep this a bolt on car only. High 11's with bolt ons is my goal, (if possable?). I have a Underdrive pulley that will be going on also.

The stall is in...all I can say is wow! Night and day difference the thing rips right out of the hole now. I dont think it needs a tune either, it locks right up at 40-45 mph and doesnt hit the limiter on up shifts. This is my first stalled car, so im still tring to wipe the smile off my face. :) Going to run it Friday for some new times.

Villain281H 04-15-2008 07:48 PM

I was goona say 12.80s as well, as we have similar mods. Mine went 12.91 at 108.4 with a 2.00 60 foot on stickies with the stock converter and 3.23 gears. I know the converter swap kicks them out of a dead

ta_06374 04-15-2008 08:12 PM

I was just driving around some more. I bet its good for atleast .5 from my old times. It shifts at 6100 and only drops down to 5100. Do you guys think my trap speeds will go up also? :thumb:

Thank you unstang for hooking me up!

You Know Doing Burnouts In 2nd Gear Is For M6 Cars Not Autos

Why is that chef? I was told you have to heat the shit out of nitto's for them to work.

ta_06374 04-17-2008 12:25 PM

I put a asp pulley on the other day and now for some reason its hitting the limiter on the 2-3. Im still going to run it Friday for a couple runs only. Then im going to send the pcm back out. Hitting the limiter might slow the times down by a .1 though. :(

ta_06374 04-18-2008 11:39 PM

Back from the track...the best 60' I could get out of the crapittos with the new stall is a 1.80, thats launching at 1500rpm's and slowly rolling into the gas. Any other method, stabbing from idle, higher brake stall, they would go up in smoke. With a better tire and a tune for the stall (limiter on 2-3) im sure 12.2s would be possable.

60' 1.80
1/8 7.97
mph 87.50
1/4 12.45
mph 109

On one run I got matched up with a new Shelby GT500 that was running
12.4s with M&H DR's. But of course I got all excited and the tires went up in smoke... :bang:

Unstang 04-19-2008 12:50 AM

Not bad for the tires. I thought your mods would be real good for that converter.
I didn't get in the 7s with my '98 Z w/ a 3200 YANK until I put a cam in it...

ta_06374 04-19-2008 01:58 AM

I thought I would lose some some trap speed, but I put on a pulley also so that might of brought it back up.

A good quality converter will not loose you any MPH, but a crappy one will, so, it looks like you've got a good one, its always fun going faster isn't it.:D
