Default New times for our 440LSX street car

Well we finally sprayed the car, I cant say the track sucked or not because alot of cars where hooking but we just didnt have any luck.
The first two passes where aborted due to blowing the tires, Both passes the tires where in the air when the rear's let go so the third pass I set the controller to delay .2 and start at 25% (75shot) and ramp to 60% (180 shot) in 3.0 sec (60% of 300) run looked like this

1.461 60ft
6.221
115.79

The last pass i left the .2 delay but started it off at 35% (105hp) and ramped the same 60% in at 1.8 sec run looked like this

1.381 60ft
6.021
117.48

And now for the screwed up part the car was overheating on the return road and has now blown another head gasket. This makes the 2nd set of gaskets that have took a **** in the last month, I just had the heads decked and a new set of cometic gaskets and after only 4 motor passes and 2 small n20 passes the same head is leaking again, I think we may have a block that isnt square we will know more in a few days.

But over all i am very pleased with the #'s from a small kit but i am getting very tired of working on this car lol

Nice! Is this the same motor in the orange car (avatar pic on left)? Sweet man, I hope you work it out. I know what you mean about CONSTANTLY working on the car, I think I have spent this whole year out and it's nerve-wracking! I am not dealing well with 2 motors blowing in 1 year!

This motor was built for the orange car but never ran in it, That was a 383 small bore during the pic in the avatar

LSX block? The block issues seem to still be there. Concerns me because I'm building an LSX 440.

I dont think we have a block issue other than the POS shop we had do the machine work didnt deck the block and me and my worker that put it together failed to check the deck for flatness all we check was piston deck. we where in a hurry last year building this motor tring to make the LSX shootout and my local machine shop couldnt get to it so we choose another shop, Our mistake I have the block back now and it took .007 to make it flat.
I will have it back together next week.

By the way i have block number 272

I went 9.37 this past weekend at 144 , 1/8 mile was a 5.92 at 118. That should give you a idea where your at .

Only thing diff is I am running a 300 shot off the foot brake, NO delay . 1.31 60ft wheels up.
I also only have a 6.0 iron motor with ls6 heads, FAST 92/92 and a fogger set up I did.
We are running a glide also.

Keep us updated on your times and how you make out. Sucker is gonna fly.

What number would a newer block have? The short cylinder wall length was something that was supposed to be revised. How was the overall machine work quality when the block was new?

I'm not sure what number a newer block would have i just stated what number it was because people where telling me that they had issues. I as told in the begging that some blocks had shorter deck height that they should have so i had the deck height checked before i orderd pistons it was dead on. I dont guess i paid much attention to the blocks machining when it was new i was in a hurry to get it together and ran it to the machine shop soon as it came in. They need to debur the bitch all the edges where sharp as hell lol
