Default Finally got back to the track today 408 N/A

So Don and I finally made it to the track with my car.

From the beginning I asked Don(slowhawk) to build me a 10.50 car. Unfortunately he didn't do that

First pass off the trailor 2500 rpm foot brake

R/T .031
60' 1.424
330 4.238
1/8 6.618
mph 103.10
1000 8.685
1/4 10.440
mph 129.85

Mind you I hit the 7000rpm rev limiter right before the line and I let off. I get my slip and I am ******* pumped. I honestly did not expect the car to run that good with the converter.

Next pass I did a 3000 rpm foot brake

R/T .127
60' 1.367 Holy **** (Radials and stock shocks and springs)
330 4.099
1/8 6.434
mph 104.46
1000 8.482
1/4 10.24 <<<<<
mph 126.99

So imagine I get back and I am ******* pumped more than ever. We decide to try a transbrake launch for ***** and giggles and that didn't go so well

next pass we decided to go back to foot braking alittle higher -3500rpms

R/T -.007 I got alittle excited
60' 1.416 had alittle wheel hop
330 4.190
1/8 6.542
mph 103.79
1000 8.604
1/4 10.36
mph 126.85

Car did not like the higher stall and we lowered our air pressure too much.
Don wanted to call it quits but we all know how stubborn I am

Next pass we decided to goto our 10.24 settings 3000 rpm launch and set the tires back to 20psi.

R/T .063 God I am getting good at this reaction time stuff
60' 1.353 Did I meantion this is on radials and stock shocks and springs
330 4.624
1/8 7.366
mph 93.07
1000 9.598
1/4 11.456
mph 121.88

So your probably wondering why I had such a great 60ft and a shitty *** 1/4 mile time. Well my tranny must of been pissed off at me and decided not to let me use 2nd gear so I had to just use 1 and 3

Needless to say Don has built me a badass car. I cannot thank him enough for all the time and effort he has put into this car.

We will be getting a "real" converter and show what this car can really do

Thank you Don

Marco

Nice pass, you might be in the 9s with a transbrake. Any specifics on your setup?

Some minor work and weight savings will get us into the single digits.Funny how well it runs with a mild cam in it.This is litterally a daily driver type of motor.

Do you mind sharing the cam specs? And is this an iron block or LS2?

It's a 408ci iron built over 4 years ago and had about 20k on it before going into this car.Brian Tooley hooked us up with the heads. Cam is in the 240's.

Sounds great don't change the converter just yet, run it in better air and play around with shift points and weight savings. 10.2 and a best mph of 129 is some good stuff. I ran my 325's at 17psi cold and they were happy.

Awesome times! Is it the gearing and tranny thats causing it to only pick up 23 or so mph in the final 1/8th?

No the converter isn't efficient enough.

Gotcha! 10.2 NA is hauling *** in just about anything IMO. Good luck on your quest to 9's.

I think the verter slippage is killing you. You out 60' foot my camaro (1.425) but I'd chase you down on the top (9.9x @ 133mph). We got about the same size motor, so id assume somethings not letting you get the full potential outof your flywheel horses.
