Default Bumper dragging radial weekend (video)

We got booted first round, but we had a blast. It's a local drag radial even called "street freaks" intended for street style cars.

Qualified top five on the second attempt (wasnt many cars but its better than nothing!). First attempt tried all 500 on 2 stages and blew the tires off. The track was horrible, the OPS cars were running 5.0's. It was like ice skating.

Pulled 100-150 hp out of the tune up and went 5.77 at 124. Set the second stage to come in a lot later. Real lazy 1.39 60 foot.

First round was with another fast local ls1 guy (burbanman) that's run the series the entire year. We gave him lane choice since he needed to win to possibly win the series (he has gone a 5.6x but the track was horrible...so bad that I went 5.6x two weeks earlier with less power).

I cranked in the power a wee bit more and the wheelstand was the result.

I shifted into high gear when it kept going up in hopes that it would calm it down, but I ended up dragging the bumper and had to pedal it. Went 6.0.

If I can find the balance I'd like to see some 8.50s or 8.60s in a few weeks.

Not bad for a measly 402 with nitrous

One nice thing was that we didn't move any coolant on the 500 shot. I'm sure that this will change when we keep throwing nitrous at it lol.

Nice. Your times are real close to ours but in the true street class we run in we have to run the 275/60 radials. We're limited to a single stage so we're always running on the raged edge, they either hook and book or blow them off at the hit. Check out this wheelie during 1st round of qualifying, mine is the 4th gen T/A, wheels up !!!. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYhHtAyfd6M

I would have to say it was pretty "interesting." The track owner is a really nice guy though, he helped me with my licence passes.

I need to make some changes if I am going to try and bring in the full 500 with this setup. I don't make a ton of power so I need to bring in the little I have quick!

Yes we use the NOS digital progressive, pretty much have to or we'd just blow the tires off and that's on a small 350 shot. What computer are you using, surely not stock? We're running the BS3.

I am running the stock computer.

I have some new ideas on how to pull timing like I want to with the stock pcm. I am going to make the changes over the winter and see if I can pick up (changing my motor setup as well)

And the T/B is an Accufab. We're going to change the set up for next year and see if we can't do better than 3rd place.

I want to try ETP canted valve heads or something that will yield some better flow numbers than my current setup. Either an ETP intake or super victor.

Next year we're going solid roller with a Super Victor intake and Dart heads. We need to spin it faster and longer, the BB guys walk past us right at the traps. Our MPH is 122/123 and the BB guys are trapping at 126. It's so irritating to get the hole shot and better 60ft only to have them come around on the big end.
