Default Battery relocate wiring Q

I don't plan on drag racing the car anytime soon, so I didn't install a cutoff switch (don't want to drill into my car just yet). I have two wires running to the battery, one main wire and one for the alternator. I've been told it's best to have a seperate wire for the alternator, or it'll reduce the life of the battery. Is it ok to connect the main power to the top post and the alternator power to the side post on my Optima battery? They don't have to be on the same post, do they? Thanks in advance

I'm not 100% sure but, I don't see it causing a problem since it's designed to use either terminal. Unless your battery's in the back you don't need a cutoff switch.

It is in the back. I moved it for the dedicated system. I don't see it being a problem either, but if someone does, from experience, please let me know.

For the street you will be ok just use big enough gauge wire or you will have a chance of not enough voltage to run everthing
