Question NHRA Legal Battery Relo... Questions

im wanting to relocate my battery to the trunk area in my 02 ss. to make it NHRA legal what do i need to have?

also if anyone has any tips on doing the relocating let me know.

**also does anyone sell any batt relo kits with everything needed?

need to have it in a sealed battery box or have a full bulkhead in the rear
need a master disconnect switch (has to kill alternator power too)

So if I put it in an approved sealed battery box, in the spare tire space, I don't have to screw around with adding the bulkhead panel?

that is correct. if it is in a sealed box then no need for a bulkhead. the cut-off switch can either kill alternator power or run a 2 pole switch to kill ignition power. either way as long as it shuts the car off when running. if you dont do this than the alternator will keep the car running even after disconnecting the battery.

Also don't forget the J-type hooks aren't legal. If you look under my name I have a wiring diagram posted in this section that is NHRA legal and its the correct way to wire the battery.

what about if i have a optima which is a sealed battery do i still need a completely sealed off container or can i have like a tray that leaves the battery in sight?

Optima Batteries still require a sealed box. Even the dry cell batteries that have hit the market require an approved sealed box, no exceptions.
