*Any M6 cars going over 135 mph, please check this out!!! I race this weekend, and ran 132.5 mph with 27" tall tires and 3:73's. I crossed the traps with my shift light just coming on, should i go down to 3:55's? Do to near future mods? Thanks. |

28's wont fit, my 27's rub a bit, Car has ground FX's. Im running a best of 10.6 @ 132, 1.6 60' the car has done 1.5's and that was with little suspention tweeking (run out of time) Im hoping to tune the car with 11 psi, put the 2 step in, tweek suspention, lighten the car a bit(3,700 lbs) and break it out next years and run 10.3-10.4 with some high 1.4 60' I think it can be done. Im shifting at 6,200. but it is a stock block so i dont want to over rev it. |
doh! same gear and tire i got.... :( when i bought the hoosiers i calculated i could go 133 on them... math works.. wierd! you got another motor.. let her eat. |
What are you shifting at? 6,200? Before changing gears for future mods, give yourself a MPH/horsepower goal and go from there. 3.55's would get you 140mph @ 6,200 on the 27in tires 3.42's would get you to 146 @ 6,200 on the 27's. My goal is 140 on street tires, so I'm going with 3.42's. BTW, congratulations on the new times! :chug: |
MM, No new motor yet, I got some parts for it, but $2,000 on my new rear set up put me behind a bit. Looks like I wont have the new motor till next summer. Imlooking to go around 135. But that is on the stock block. with the new motor and more boost 140+ would be nice. But i think 3:55's will do, then do the motor and go 3:42's. Gear change is nothing, I could do that at the track need be!! Good to know that the 3:55's should work. Thanks. |
I have 3.73 gears right now, since they are a tad on the worn side I will be swapping them out over the winter. Right now my car traps at 128 but with the set up I am looking for 135+ next year. I am probably dropping down to 3.42's, that shouldn't loose me much, give me a wider rpm band and hopefully hold up well. My redline is also 6200 rpm. Paul |
And this is in a m6? I think 3:55's will be good for now, Like i said, gear swap is nothing, I dont mind doing them as i need so i dont loose to much. |
Why not rev it to 6400rpm?? You have Heads and a Cam,right? When you hook better your mph should go down a little. |
I have heads with duel springs, But I also have a motor with 50,000 hard miles on it, I want to keep the revs down. I also plan on other mods so Just 200 rpm wont be enouph (i dont think) |
I really don't see a problem with you revving 4th out to 6800rpm.Look at Curtis's car.He spray's and shifts at 6800-6900.I would just suggest that you replace your valve springs this winter. |
I have dual springs, Im more worried about stressing the stock 50,000 mile block. But I might keep them in for a little longer. |

Reving it any higher isn't going to gain me anything the motor is turbocharged and all my power is made from 2600 rpm to 5600 rpm at the moment |
well the extra HP you pout on the engine will strain it just as much as reving it. sounds like you alread know what to do, since you cant get a taller tire and dont want to rev it any more, so 3.55's would be your only option. |
good call! |
