Default About ready to order my rear end just had some questions...

Ok so here's the background i'm at right now. I'm buying parts peice by piece and the rear end is the last part i need. i'm wanting to get a 9inch but when i come to think of the options i'm stuck. at what point would the backbracing be needed? also would 31 splines be a waste of time instead of stepping up to some 35's? I'm just looking for the basic setup, full spool no abs or any of that other bullshit. just a basic rear end. the car, when redone, will have a big single turbo pushing about 18-20#'s

thanks for you help, BTW i placed it here in this section as yall are more oriented into the hardcore racing rather than the other section

do it once and do it right. mine is way over kill for me, but i dont have to worry about it breaking. i have a fab9, back braced, 35 spline (gun drilled), with a spool. if i would have done it over i would have gone with a aluminum center and wheelie bar mounts, but those can be added later.

it is only 15 more pounds then the stock 10 bolt.

From what I've read, you might start needing a backbrace around 600rwhp.

The backbrace is not so much of a HP thing as a how hard do you expect to launch thing. With a large single turbo it is not a bad idea. Running a spool, there is no reason to stay with 31 spline axles. Go 35 and be done.

I would agree if your using a spool then go 35 spline. And if you go that far then back bracing is a good idea too. My set up is a Fab 9" 31 spline,4.10's,posi. Mostly aggressivie street driving and occacional trips to the track.
