should work if wired into some type of thermostat. don't know where you'd get one.

ok thats basically what i needed to know. i noticed the race version didnt have a thermostat like the street version did

so the race version wouldnt cool down a car enough for the streets seeing it has no thermostat?

You mean a thermostatic switch or a thermostat to control coolant flow?

Do you still have a serpentine belt system? If so dont you need the street vesion for the pulley? also, I don't think the race version has provisions for the heater hoses...

no power steering or ac/heater here so i was thinking of getting the race version

heres what i researched just now.....the HD race pump flows 42GPM and it does say strip/street, so i think i found what im looking for

the regular race version is only 35GPM

the street version, i seen no need for since i plan on running a belt around the crank and alt pulleys only. i dont need the heater hose provisions

Default radio shack

The race pump can take the motor from 200 degrees down to 120 degrees in about 10 seconds (assuming the fans are in working order).

the thermostat would have to control turning the pump on and off at set temperatures. some electonics guru could probably figure out how to do that with parts from radio shack and a sending unit from auto zone in about 5 minutes.

ive ran one on the street in my 3rd gen since 2004 without issue.
prolly burn up tomorrow...
LOL.
hottest the car has ever ran is 210 on a stock 4th gen gauge.
that was during 100 mile trip at 3500rpms.
it normally runs 180 or so, even in hot days in traffic.
car also has ls1 fans and radiator.

I've had a race 35 gpm on my car for over a year, did a little driving with it, and it was fine with no tstat. Stock dummy gauge read the same as it did with the stock pump.

A real gauge is needed to really know what the car is running at, the stock one in my car anyway, isn't much more then a dummy light.

I used to run the 35gpm LT1 version on my LT4 for years with no issues at all on the street. 180* was the norm.

take your pick.

a switch would be the same as turning the pump on and off to control the flow.

a thermostat is a valve. How about a solenoid valve w/ a thermostatic switch controlling the valve.

For the guys that have ran it on the streets, How do you have it wired?Just to a switch? If so do you guys just turn it on and leave it on or do you switch it on and off when you see the temperature rising or falling?

most guys just leave it on. i wired one up for my buddy on an lt1, turns on with the ignition but the car also has a 180* t stat and stock fan temps of 213 and 227.

you could easily use a thermostatic fan switch, but where would you put the temp sender?in the block?

Got a link? You can PM me if needed. This sounds exactly what I am looking for with my build.

Its on the Meziere website, $498.14. The only thing I dont like is that it says its suitable on n/a engines up to 650hp, and if running forced induction, high compression, or high horsepower that the 55gpm street pump should be used. The entire point of running an EWP for me is that I have no accesories other than the alternator and I dont run a heater. I want a lightweight race pump without the pulley on the pump and the street pump is double the weight of the HD "street/strip" pump. My 11.5:1 isnt really high compression, and on nitrous I will make around 650 rwhp which means at the flywheel ill be well over 700hp.
