Default For TA's: Front Bumper Support Delete but Retain Fogs

Finished hacking away at the support. Not only do I keep my fogs, but the 3 mounting holes for the bumper holes are intact and provide a sturdy reinforcement for the front end. Now I don't have to bother with custom fabbing some kind of bracket to hold everything in.

I did something similar, but I just chopped the center out and cut the flap off, and left 2 little ear's on the sides to keep the foglights. It worked pretty good.

That's what I did too. I left enough on each bracket to use one hole on the bottom of the bumper cover.

If someone wants the brackets I made... I'll let them go, 25 bucks shipped. I bought a burkhart support, but that's now gonna come out next year most likly when the nose gets cut off up to the wheel well's and get's refabed in small round bar (hopefully)

Our support retains the lights, and it's on sale right now.

I have the burkhart support and it is a very nice piece, but may be in the same boat as JL and making from the wheelwells forward tubular.

What do you mean? The bumper support (intact) was 20 lbs. I did not weigh the little piece of metal I kept but I'm going to guess it was roughly 2 lbs.

Also, the rear bumper support was around 19.5 lbs.

Any tricks on the rear? I was looking the other day and it looks like there is not going to be anywhere to put the retaining clips right under the license plate??? Thanks for the help. I plan on doing this mod this weekend.

I don't remember what the underside looks like by memory. I did the rear maybe 3 weeks ago and it's been stored in my garage and I've been working on the front and other things. I'm going to work on the rear in the next few days so check back for some pics.

Removed mine tonight. The support bar weighed16 lbs by itself and the foam maybe another 2-3. This was for the front. I will hack it apart in the upcoming week to retain the foglights as you did. Was hoping this thing weighed more though. Post up when you start on the rear support.

I got jipped on my rear support. The damn thing was plastic. WTF. For the 4 lbs it weighed I just put it back on. I will cut up the front support tomorrow like you did and try to get it back together tomorrow evening.

You probably didn't take out the whole thing. If you took off the rear bumper and took the plastic "egg crate" right off, then you probably still have the metal support attached. You have to go underneath the car and locate the 3 nuts on the end of each frame rail. Once you remove the 6 total nuts from the inside, pull the support out.

I am about 85% done with the rear fab so I'll post up pics hopefully tomorrow.

I did remove the support not just the egg crate. MIne had 4 nuts on each side 13mm and yes the actuall support was plastic. That is why I just put it all back together.

Hmmmm, do you by any chance lift weights and what actually is 20 lbs feels like 4 lbs to you?

About the 3 nuts on each side and 6 total nuts, I could be confusing myself with the front bumper support. I think you are right, there are 4 nuts on each side.
