Default Iron block 427 or different for a NA Build

Was wanting to do a NA build. for a 3100 race weight car. Was thinking of taking an iron block or saving my money and doing a lsx block.
Just want to know has anyone built a iron block 427 and what power did you make.
Heads and cam recomendations.
Wanted to stay with a hyd. cam.

Why would you go with more weight (iron) if you weren't going with a power adder?

Its the top end that makes the power. Heads, valves, springs, lifters, cam, intake all working together.
500-600+ all depends on the top end and rpm range

I would (and did) definately use an aluminum block and since you're going N/A no reason you can't go bigger than a 427. Easily 441 (like mine) or 454, 457 now guys are building. An LS7 block will cost a little more than an LSX block, maybe $7-$800 but you'll save that extra 100lbs off the nose which will keep you consistant bracket racing by making your chassis adjustments easier and will run cooler as well making back to back rounds a breeze as far as heat is concerned. No way I'd use an LSX block for what you want.

Keep in mind that you might want to add the spray in the future.

LSX 427ci here.
535rwhp through a TH-400, Moser 12, 28" tires.
