Default What car hauler do you use?!

I'm in the market for a car trailer/hauler and I'm having trouble finding one that you can actually open the doors once loaded. I've used the uhaul ones, and they're nice because that fender actually folds down. If you could post up some pictures loaded, brand name, and price that would be awesome!

back in the day...I used an 18' open trailer by "Better Built Trailers" and I had no issues opening my doors on the trailer (the fenders were low enough).

don't have a pic of it loaded though

here's a pic I snapped before selling it...

JL had a good open car deal that allowed him to open doors with ease. I am sure he will post on it.

I had a Brimar CH-18, which was an 18 foot open center deck trailer, and it worked out very good for the couple years I used it. It's light enough for a 1/2 ton or V8 SUV to tow, and never gave me a problem. The open center was nice, if I had to get under the car at the track, I used to just drive up on the trailer, and I could use it like a mini-lift, to make adjustments on the tq arm or whatever, actually worked out nice. The 18 foot wasn't needed, you can get away with a 16, but the 18 gave you the option of setting the car back to balance it a little better if what you're towing with doesn't like the tongue weight.

Hope this helps.

if you're lowered, you'll have problems.

My car is about 1.5 inches lower in the front and an inch in the back, and I didn't have any issues. I did, use to back the truck up on a set of cheap walmart ramps, this pitched the trailer enough so it worked good, or used a couple 4 foot long pieces of 2x10 as a starter ramp, both did essentially the same thing, and made loading and unloading the car easy. Just make sure what you get has a beavertail in the back, that will make it alot easier to load/unload.

The easiest way is to just bolt two 2x6's or 2x8's to the trailer deck where the car sits. I'm not sure how much cleareance you are needing but this will give you an extra 1 1/2"

Do a search for Suretrack. They come powder coated, not painted (RUST). I bought a 20ft for 2600$ last spring new.Dual axle with brakes,4 foot beaver tail whitch is nice for 4th gens, and the fenders are low. I think they are made or distributed form Indiana.

18' PJ 4' dovetail car is slightly lowered, no problems opening doors over fenders. Old pics from 2008, I don't have many of the car on the trailer!

How much are you guys spending on your haulers? I see some have already said $2500 or so.

I'm also in the market for a car hauler but not sure on what the average prices are for them.

They make them were the trailer fender will either fold over to the front of the trailer giving you plenty of clearance. and i have seen them were the complete fender pins on once you have the car loaded. The pin on fender was on an expensive all aluminum trailer. I only paid 1100 cash for my 18' were the fender will fold over out of the way.

I also have an 18' with a 4' dovetail and full metal decking similar to the pic in post#2. Mine is a Performance trailer which costs about 2200 bucks with straps and all. The car is pretty low so I have to use 2x12's on top of the ramps to get my car onto it, but have good door clearance over the fenders. Check out www.007trailers.com for different styles and pictures. You would need to find a dealer to get pricing but I know they have some as cheap as 1400 bucks(wood deck w/ open center).
