Default Transmission question after new stall

Just got my car back had work done to the tranny and got a FTI 3600 stall. Problem is the gear selector does not make what it feels like gear it is in. I have to go to Park to get netural and reverse is a very small window. Almost hard to find.
Is this normal or do I need to have them look at it again. They had my car for 34 f-ing days and it does not seem right to me.

Thanks
Steven

That's definitely not normal. I've got a 3800 stall and my gear selector works exactly like it does stock.

doesn't sound right to me. they might have stretched the cable when dropping the trans. it likes to hook under the pan while you aren't looking and cause some turmoil.

i think the shifter linkage is adjustable, but i had a similar problem with my 89 ta after a rebuild and the guy never figured it out. it ended up being a problem under there shifter plate the cable was not anchored because it was worn out.
