Default In need of some gear

Take a look at my sig and you'll see that I'm running 3.42s and running mid 11s. When I cross the stripe I am at about 5500rpm. I think the 3.42s are totally wrong for my setup, I'm spinning to 6500. What gear would put me in the 6500 range at the 1/4 mile. I was thinking 4.10s but I'm not 100% on that.

depending on what size tires your running....

here is a simple calculator.

also, take into account what gear your trans is in crossing the line...

Thanks, it came up with 4.26.

I should have mentioned third gear in a 4l60 on a 26" tire. But I got my answer. thanks again.

just remember, lower gear ratios have a performance/street trade off. if you put 4.30's in it, its gonna be nothing but a tire fryer on the street. even barely in the throttle. thats a lot of gear for an automatic car.

If you are running the 10 bolt stay with 4.10's do not go to 4.30's. If you have a 12 bolt or 9, I would still stay 4.10's if you drive the car a lot on the street. You need to remember with the gear change you will need a sticker tire which will be hard on the gear in a 10 bolt.

U can go w/4:10's and if its too much u put a taller tire but 3:73's would be what u really need.

This thing is slowly evolving into a track car, since we had our third child we don't drive it much anymore. Pretty much to and from the track and maybe once or twice to work.

I'm running hoosier drag radials, would they be enough? 275/50-15

Also I'm planning a 8.8 build so that's why I ask, if I end up sticking with the 10 bolt I'll leave it as it is.
