Carb'd guys come on in

The more I read about these guys running Carb'd LS motors the more I want to throw a carb. on mine. But everytime I lookat a thread it looks EXPENSIVE and some say the 6010 box is junk.

I'm about ready to give up on the EFI stuff and clean up the engine bay of all this electronic crap!

So what all is actually needed? Some say you can use the in-tank style fuel pump and use a regulator to regulate it to 8-10PSI. Not recommended but do able?

What kind of cam spec is actually recommended? Are they really that different to reap the full benefit of swapping from EFI to Carb'd?

I have a Victor JR. intake right now and I'm assuming it would be fine to make some plugs to put in the EFI holes.

Any guys run a LID/Ram Air setup with a carb'd setup?

This way all I would need would be the 6010 box, regulator, and other misc. fitting and lines and I'd have a good carb'd setup on the cheaper side. Not worried about cleance, I have an Extended Wide Sunoco hood on the way.

Any more input and help is appreciated.

I'll still be using the Victor JR. intake. I'm just tired of all the headache with the tuning and all. Carbs. are just a lot easier to tune IMO. Especially since all I do is bracket race this thing.

I don't dislike the Accufab 4 barrel setup up with the Victor JR. at all. I love it for a mean street/strip setup, but for all out racing it looks like carbed is the way to go.

I went to a carb and distributor and it was the best thing I did. My car is pretty serious but it made things alot cleaner and simple. I put a external crank trigger on it and got rid of every sensor and never looked back. I use a nasty perf. tank with a a1000 but you can use a areomotive regulator and the stock tank and it would work fine. I have a 408 super vic, fogger, pro system carb, th400 with a brake and it works very well. 9.13 @ 148 last week 3347 race weight

Hrmmm maybe i'll have to look into this before i buy the accufab haha. I plan on having a strip only car maybe the weekend cruise to a car meet or something also. I will be doing my own tuning soon so all the help would be nice.

I'm considering this also. I've read some negative on the 6010 box also, but I've seen a car run 8's in person before on 275 BFG's with one.

Now that looks good! A little too expensive for me at the time, but maybe someday.

Here's a better picture/specs of that front cover for some of you guys interested.

Thats last years set up. P.I. intake and All-Pro LSW heads. Good combo that had alot more in it. The carb guy really missed the tune, and we were just getting the car to work and decided to go with some different parts.

a98ws6 May 30, 2010 09:25 PM

My setup is a 383, stg 2 ls6 heads, ls6 intake 1 7/8" headers, cam is a bit bigger than a TREX. Full suspension car with a th400 and decent amount of weight taken out. How much different would my car run with a vic jr, 750 pro systems carb and 6010 MSD box? Just really considering this lately with all the tunning troubles I've seen lately with efi. Also would spray a 150-200 plate on top of this.

ty_ty13 Jun 2, 2010 08:53 AM

here's the main parts you'll need

7531 box ~ $900
flying magnet.... guessing $250ish
good carb ~ $900ish
coil ~ $150ish
plug wires ~ $100ish
distributor ~ $350ish

thats all i can think of...

if this isnt a dedicated racecar its not a very good idea in my opinion...
