Today's weight reduction!!! I just finished ditching my fog lights, front plastics, and cut back my wheel well plastics. Total weight removed was 7.1lbs!!! :D Braille 11.5lb battery should be here tomorrow and I'm going to remove the front fenders and cut out the inner fender metal sometime next week. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/36126a8f.jpg |
Every little bit helps right! |
.07 faster! Just joking around. Gotta start somewhere, or continue where you left off last. |

You hit the nail on the head. With the light weight battery and inner fender metal removed I should cut a good chunk of weight off the nose of the car. Trying to get my junk into the 10s cam only and I'm on a mission!!! :D My winter project will be to try and get my car to look as clean as your's and Larry's car. Btw I've seen your car a few times at Byron with Speed Inc and it looks amazing. GL on your goals and hope to see ya at the track next time out...rain kept me away last time. |

looks good, you remove the other normal things. you know you can drill the spot welds and get the fog light bracket off the headlight frame, i did that if you didnt notice. and with the fenders off i trimmed the very point of the fender off with the hole for the foglight bar. is your car driveable right now. i know it cold out, but can you scan it and see what temp it runs with and without the airdam. i few guys have asked me, and thats what i wnat to know beofre i cut the bottom metal off for good. haha |
^ cut mine at the horns and dropped 18lbs :secret: fabbed up some aluminum channel brackets to hold the radiator up...they weigh 1.5lbs together... and mine runs the same 190* in stop and go traffic 80* outside |
with the fog lights and the front bumper support removed, i would go ahead and remove the air dam. the radiator will get enough air thru the holes. i didn't notice any difference in temps by removing the air dam. |

I was thinking about removing my air dam but while searching I found an old thread where someone tested it back to back and slowed down without it. IIRC it was 2 mph slower in the 1/4. |
Ok guys, update time ("Man on a Mission" Day 2!!!) I prepped the car to cut out the inner fender metal. I also pulled the horn, air dam, and optima battery. The battery weighed 33.2lbs and my new Braille is 11.5lbs so the total weight removed from the swap is 21.7lbs. The horn and air dam were another 2.6lbs. So today's total weight reduction is 24.3lbs!!! :D http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/dbe987c0.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/de2ae793.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/80ddff7e.jpg I also have a question. WTF is this thing and can I delete it? It's on the passenger frame rail and has a vac line running to it. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/54d8cb5c.jpg |

That's the vacuum reservoir. It stores some vacuum to keep the AC in it's set position under low vacuum conditions. |
I forgot to mention that while working on my junk today I discovered that my water pump is leaking. Guess I'll be ordering an EWP. |
I think you went little overboard with the fender lightining in those pics. Might want to step back and try to keep it looking like a car. Not many people look good driving a motor and subframe down the track. |

So I can delete it and just cap off the line? Car doesn't have a/c or hvac. |
