A little racing tech. Ok racers I have a question. I have 11.1 compression and running nitrous. I have a Timing tuner and I am retarding the timing I think 5 degrees for the nitrous. My car is also running a total of 27 degrees of timing at W.O.T.. Now if I mix 100 octane and let say 110 or 105 together for a strip blend, what will I be safe with as far as timing goes? I would think I could advance timing closer to my street tune because of the increase in octane. This is first for me with a LS motor and racing fuel. Am I far off base here. I don't know so I am asking. OH I am only running a 100 shot at the moment. And both fuels are VP unleaded street blends.
Are you running 27 NA and 22 on spray? I don't think adding the timing back in will make that much of a difference. I would leave it taken out. The race gas is always a good idea in the summer time, or when having to make back to back passes. What plugs are you running ? You could take 2 degrees out and try it. With a 100 shot you have larger safety factor then say a 250 hit.
I've always taken some timing out and turn off the spray between shifts. Having to much timing can build too much cyl. pressure while on the spray. The pressure is what will hurt the motor.
