Ive got a 98 ss camaro and im building my new motor for it now. Ive got a lq9 415 stroker with texas speeds ported l92 heads. Im not sure what cam to get and other mods to go fast. need advice where to loose weight without chopping up the car. i want it to weigh 3200lbs.
Mods list;
yank ss 4000,lca,panard bar,torque arm,lca drop brackets,15 inch MT drag radials,greg weld skinnies,subframe connectors,1 3/4 longtube headers and y pipe with cutout and magniflow oval pipe with a dump. built 4l60e trans,rollcage, racing seats and full interior minus back seat and carpet insulation. ther is some other weight reductions. It weighs around 3300lbs.

Here is another tip. If you are willing to re-stall the converter or swap gears that will give you some more options on cam selections...... quite a few cams that like more stall and gear.

A 1 7/8 header wouldn't be a bad idea, ditch the Y pipe and put a set of super 44's with some 3 or 3.5 inch pipe running to them and dump that, usually makes the same pwoer as open headers fwiw.
Not sure what you have in the car for a gear, or how high you are willing to spin the motor, but if you'll take it to 7500, put a 4.56 in it for n/a use with a 28 inch tire, 4.30 at a min.
Camshaft, go big. What you see in stock ci cars (trex) is working, in a 346... you have a 415, that's alot more CI, and it can use alot more camshaft. Not sure where the heads flow, but I'd push the valves a touch past where the peak head flow is (say they get to 625, then the airflow starts dropping, so push the valve to 630) And go big on the duration, 255/265 something like that. It's gonna require an open loop type tune for sure, it will probably want to idle at 1000 to 1100, but it will work.
Call the guys that built the motor, they can get you set up with it, or at least the guys that did the heads. Just have to keep an eye on the p to v clearance, as long as there's plenty of that you should be o.k. And make sure, the valve springs are up to the task. The valves are usually pretty big in those heads, and need a good spring to control them.
