Default Transmission thoughts from the drag racers here.

I have a faceplated T56 that I am wanting to put in my car and I have been reading threads upon threads and 1 out of the 10 is a success story. The trans has a stock output shaft but it has been machined and all that. When I finish my build I should be running 9's. Maybe low 10's. I am worried that I am gonna break this trans and after what I spent on this trans to get it right, I dont wanna have to do it again. I love bangin gears but not to the tune of 2200 per season.

Is it gonna break? I know its a ridiculous question but tell me what you think.

Do TH350's and 400's break like these manual transmissions do? I'm lookin for advice on what to do here. Let me know what you would do.

Thanks,

Trey

Yep,

You should probably just stick a sturdy 4l60e in there and never have to worry about it again...hahaha...

I know better than to put a 4L60E in there. If I was gonna do anything it would be a TH350, TH400 or a Glide haha.

How much power is the car making and what are your goals for the car? We have customers with years on their faceplated transmissions.

Hey man, My goal for the car is gonna be 700 - 750 on the nitrous. Im lookin for 9's. It will have a progressive on it so that it wont take the full 250 right off the line. I am putting it on a diet and hope to get it somewhere around 3200.

Idk man. I honestly think the faceplated trans with the input oiling will work for you. If you are going to build a dedicated drag car then I would just stick a TH400 in it and roll.

Input shaft failure so rare, it's almost safe to say they never fail.

I broke my output shaft like a twig 5k launch and a dead hook, I had 415rwhp a street twin clutch and dana S60 rear, strange DS, trans was the weakest link.

put a built 400, or glide in it with a manual valve body so you still shift the car, just no clutch. They are alot cheaper, there light, and reliable. I switched from a t56 to a 400 and never looked back.

Good luck, Chris

ive spent prob about 7k over the last 3 years with my t56. makes for alot of fun but breakages happen at those hp levels. rpm has me set up with the input oiling system this year and think it should be the ticket to helping it live for a while. ill be shooting for some mid 9s this year

How do you burn an input cluster on 1 pass? Did you hot lap it?

at 700+ whp fluid sloshing to the rear of the trans and input and cluster getting hot. no hotlap. i had no issues for 2 years on my first trans @550whp then started breaking **** at my current levels.
