torque arm talk if all i want to do is go low 7's or possibly high 6s.will an aftermarket tranny mounted torque arm be sufficient? or should i get one that mounts to the crossmember? |
read the sticky.going with a short one that mounts to chassis.weld in a dedicated crossmember just for TA support. |
Even on stock power, YOU NEED to get that arm off your trans.. Period. that was a bad Idea on Gms part.. |
you mean in 1/8 mile right? |
HAHA! yeah man, 1/8th mile. im not that serious of a racer.just wanna go low 7s or high 6s in the 1/8th mile.ive never evan ran the quarter.(we dont have one around here) |
Yea, like others have said crossmember mounted should have been factory. |
Body mounted arm works great in your power range. Check out the one MWC makes here...works great on street and track and is priced very affordable. Comes in a powdercoated finish and includes a driveshaft loop at no extra cost. http://www.midwestchassis.com/torque-arms.html |
I run lower 7's on the stock tq arm. I haven't wanted to change becuase of the noise people have said the aftermarket arms make. |

I run the Madman Extreme Chromoly chassis mounted(dedicated tq. arm mount) with the slider nose on mine. Love it wouldn't use any other. I had a solid mounted spohn with a body mount and fixed clam shell nose and it clunked more than this rod ended solid mount does I have now. |
I'm in the lower/mid 7's on the stock torque arm. |
