Default best way to get the power down

Just trying to figure out what to do. My car with 243 heads and the stock cam ran a 12.50 @ 113mph last time i went to the track. That was with a 1.9 60ft time. Since then ive added the yank 3600 converter. Now, no matter what I did I couldnt get the car to hook up at all in first gear. Ive been running 315/35r17
BFG drag radials aired down to 16psi at the track. I tried running them as is, after a slight clean-up wheelspin, and after a minor burnout and none of that would get them to stick and I ended up running a best of 13.0 @ 112mph and a few other runs close to that. My mods are in the garage section and the weight of the car with me in it is 3570. what else can i do to get these 60ft times down

With the mods you have you should be able to hook. I ran 60' in sig on 255 BFG DRs @ 21psi. what was the temp & track & what's your suspension set-up?

I would do a tunnel mount torque arm with a driveshaft loop, a set of lca relocators(and adjustable lca's then) and a set of Strange or Afco shocks. This is a proven working combo and will be good enough for you when you put more power to it also. Give us a call and we can hook you up with all of it and a great package deal.

Those 315/35s aren't helping you much...I'd consider a tire change.

are there another 315 that would work better? like maybe the hoosier drag radials or the m/t? or do i need to go all out d.o.t. slick on 15" rims? was trying to not have to do the whole tire change at the track thing if possible.

If you don't want a better rim/tire combo then you will need some sort of power management to keep the wheel speed down a bit on the 35 series DR. Yes a set of 15" wheels and slicks will for sure do the job, but that is the inconvenience you don't want to deal with. There is no one magic thing that is gonna make your car work. You have to have the combination correct to get the best performance. Tune, tires, suspension, shocks... it all plays a part.

I doubt it. The problem is that you don't have much of a sidewall and the car is shocking the tire too hard and causing it to spin. A bigger sidewall on a 15" tire can absorb the shock through the sidewall of the tire in turn not shocking the tire can maintaining traction.

well im gonna try a new combo. i couldnt find any cheap 15" wheels that will clear the calipers so i got a set of 16x8 formula wheels and put some 26x11.5 bias ply mt et streets on them. they definitely have much more sidewall and are much lighter too. they are about an inch more in diameter as well. ill post up what happens when i get to the track.
