Am I being ripped off?

Book time is irrelevant if you charge 85hr and charge the person 16 hrs! He got screwed, and he got screwed hard. Next time hopefully he will get a quote, but it doesn't negate the fact they charged $5600 for what any other shop would have charged $2000 for.

I can do an axle swap on Jack stands 3 times faster than that. Definitely doesn't sound right. But my shop charges $85 an hour. Depending on the repair we quote book time but it depends on the job. Sometimes we quote by the job but we also get it ok'd by the owner in writing before we start the repair.

I could see 8 hr's max on the rear if it didn't go smooth.
Nitrous running and wiring can take a good amount of time unless you hack it in.
Then take out the whole interior for a new rug ect.
i could see maybe $3k,expecially if they tuned it. By what your listing here.
got to post up the whole reciept. Little things add up real fast.

The time is the transfer of parts and the removal of the old stuff. I reused my bracket, but I had to modify it to work. The bearing install and transfering the brakes was probably the longest part. It can all be done by one person taking their sweet damn time. The actual install into the car is really damn simple, and didn't take anytime at all. Panhard, LCA, driveshaft, ABS, brakes, torque arm, and vent. With two people working on it you can fly right thou it.

So,4hr's with 2 people would be 8hr's charged.
Some rears can be harder to put in correctly and take longer. Nitrous kits can take a long time unless you wing it in there.ect, ect

We put a 9" in my friends 3rd gen and it was a nightmare. The control arms bolted right up, but the torque arm had to be modified big-time. It hit in a few places on the rear. Total time for the install was probably around 8 hours, but we aren't trained professionals, lol. Every situation is going to be unique depending on what parts you have. 16 hours would necessitate some fabrication work which should be detailed.
