What RPM to shift car

Getting close to having this car going down the track. All new set-up.
Car makes peak power at 7,000 rpm's. TH-400.
What rpm should I shift at? 7,000, or more or when car quits pulling.
How much higher to set rev limiter, from where you shift.
Thanks

cant really tell you what to shit at. it something you need to work out and try at the track. to many things play.

yup, after you get it to 60 the same (.02) and pull gears smoth. move the shuftlight around 200 rpms. MPH=hp. its not all about peak, there how fast you shift, the engine'driveline recovery, average power. that depends on alot of things, way more then peak hp numbers on a dyno.
drivelight weight
areo
real hp at speed
ect

Alot of guys say 1000 over peak, my car runs best at 700 over my peak .Every car and setup will be diff. Start out at 500 over and go from there.

I'm consistently slow reacting to my shift light, so I have to set my shift light quite a bit lower than where my rev-limiter is set in order to get the shift done before hitting the rev-limiter. I don't even know where my rev-limiter is set (whatever 2006 GTO stock limit is), but I have my shift light set at 6200. I've tried moving the light up to 6500, but then I'm too close to the limit. Hitting the rev-limiter is like hitting the brakes. I know I need to move my shift light from the steering column to the top of the dash in line of sight, perhaps that will help.
