Default gears for the 1/4

2800lb ls1 s10
700r4, with a 3200stall
should put down a little over 500 to the wheels
What rear gears should i run for the best quarter times? and what times do you think it will run, im thinkin low 11's high high 10's maybe?

What type and size is the rear tire? What is done to the motor that you are thinking 500 RWHP?

If your chassis & torque converter is worth a damn it will run high nines. If in fact it makes 500 rwhp.

Def. be a mid to low 10 sec s10 if the WHP is 500. Maybe high 9's if the setup is right. Also depends on what rpm you will need to turn it to get it thru the 1/4.

At 2800 lbs it certainly should run nines. My old 383" did at almost 3300 lbs. It would sure be easier to answer with a tire size. With 30" radials, non-lock 4400 converter, 4.30 gears put mine at 7600 in the lights at 136 MPH.

I agree, i was also factoring in that getting the 500hp's to the ground is a lil harder in an S10 than in an Fbody, esp in an LS1 fbody with the eng. moved back.

I race guys in SS with S10s that 60' as well as my car. They do have big tires though. We have no idea what he has for tires, right? Unless I missed it. I'm old.

Carbureted and Bolton ls1, will be running 100- 150 shot to achieve 500 at the wheels
I will be running 28 - 10 in slicks out back
The truck is totally stripped no ac heat radio speakers interior nothing
FTI 3200 stall with lock up because it is a street truck.....

Leaf springs with a traction bar for rear suspension
Sway bar removed up front for more weight transfer for alittle more traction

4.10 should work well with that tire height.

4.10s hmmm really? im only reving to 6,500rpm i was thinking more along the lines of 3.73s but then again ive never built a 1/4mile car

I you are aiming to stay below 6500 then go with the 3.73's.

I run 295/45r18 which are I think a little bigger then 28's and I have 4.11's runs good except I go through the traps at like 5500

You'd be better off with 26" tall tires. 5500 is leaving a lil on the table, want to be at 6k going thru

Yea, that's true. But I dd mine so I need the taller tire to keep some kind of mpg haha. I use to have 25's and I would be at 3 grand cruising down the road. What about in a turbo application?
