Default 4.10's with a 27 inch tire?

I am finally getting my TCI 4400 within a week or two. I have a set of 4.10's that I ran for about a week until I hit 4th gear at the track with nittos so I pulled them out. My new set up will be the 4400, a 27' Et Street, the TR224/112 cam, and hopefully I can use my 4.10's again. Will I be hitting 4th again or should I leave my 3.42's in??

Oh the rev limiter is at 6600 but I would like to not be bouncing off of it at the line.

without doing any calculations i am going to guess you should be ok with a 27" like that.

Hope the converter is tight up top or it will be hitting the limiter.

You will tap the revlimiter at the end with a 6600 rpms revlimiter. I have 26x10 ET Drags with a revlimiter of 6900 rpms and i cross at 6500-6600 rpms with 4.10s.

IMO your cam peaks around 6300 rpms i would go with 3.73s and a 26x10.5 ET Street or 26x8.5 ET Drag. 4.10s will only help if your cam peaks high in the rpms.

StreetStalkerZ if you cross at 6500-6600 with a 26'' why wouldnt I be crossing at just a bit lower with a 27''??

If it is a true 27x9 ET Street you will be close with your revlimiter but you MIGHT make it. With that tire you will kill some 1/8th mile ET and mph (.03/ 1/2 mph) and any taller will make it worse. My 26x10 ET Drags on a 8 inch draglite swells to 27.4 inches at 119 mph from what me and M/T came up with, which is about as good as i can get without losing ET with a bigger tire.

Here is what happens vs. the 2 tires IMO:26 inch drag will hold a true 26 inch tire height until 3rd gear then begin to swell because of the added sidewall on a smaller wheel. A 27 inch tire will hold a 27 inch tire height at the top of first gear and if the tire is matched up with a wheel that there is no sidewall you might be on the revlimiter around 6400 rpms in 3rd gear. I was going to borrow a set of the same tires from a mustang buddy and we were duiscussing it one day and came to the conculsion that the 4.10s would like the 26x10 tire better because of the shorter tire to help with the first 1/8th mile and that i might not make it through the last 10 feet or so of the 1/4 mile for maximum ET. This is just what i came up with but if the 27x9 or so ET Street works then let me be the first to know. Rule of drag racing i learned about tire height and gearing is run the shortest tire you can without hitting the revlimiter for your best ETs.

I think a 26x8.5 ET Drag with 3.73s on a 8 inch wheel will get you a 6300 rpms in 3rd gear crossing the traps.

Thanks for the information StreetStalkerZ the Et Street are a 27x10.5 on a 16x8 rim, I will see if I can borrow a friend's 26'' Et streets to see about how it would be crossing the traps.

27x10.5 should work but you will be giving some 1/8th mile ET up. Take a set of 26x10 and some 27x10.5 and see for yourself what happens. Who knows the 27x10.5 may hook harder than the 26x10.
