Default MS4 guys help me out!

Finally after a long wait I got my car to the track last night for the first time. My car put down 385rwhp on a mustang dyno and I'm running an m6 with 3.90 rear end gears. My 1st run I didn't get the rpm's up and bogged coming off the line and ran a 12.64et/111mph with a 1.86 60'. I was hoping for a real low twelve. My second run I launched the car at 6000 rpm's and broke traction. Obviously that was a wasted run. I went through the traps in 4th gear at 5600 rpm's both times. My rear tires are 315/35-17 ET street slicks. Do you guys think I need more gear? Should my rpm's be a lot higher going through the traps with this cam?

What was your mph on the second run and what was the da during the passes? Also what was your 60 foot first pass?

MPH on my second pass was 112.11. 60' on first pass was 1.86. I'm not sure what the DA was.

What was your DA? I trap 112 in my car with less hp (if yours was on a DJ instead of a MD) and the same gears. I think you should be trapping a little bit more than me. I went 12.65 on a 1.9x 60', you should be getting better than that. I've been 12.3x with a 1.76 so far...I'm thinking your car should out do mine with more power. Don't they usually say 4.10s or so with an MS4 though?

Ms4 car should be trapping 116+ easy depending on da. My bolt on car traps 112. Im curious to see the da.

I think from what you guys have told me so far I need to go to probably a 4.30 gear. I didn't check the DA. I'm an amateur! LOL. I'll check next time I go. Will the DA affect your runs a lot?

Forget the gear change at the moment...a 112 mph trap is very low with your mods. Something sounds off here

Gear isn't your problem OP. With either 3.90s or 4.30s, sounds like your trap speed should be much higher according to your mods.

It could just be my shitty driving! I think gears would keep the rpm's up where that cam makes its power. The bog off the line and the low trap rpm's lead me to believe the gears were my problem. I just had the ****** car to the tuner. It made 6 more rwhp with the addition of the TSP PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L heads and compression increase to 10.75:1. I told him something is wrong. He couldn't give me an answer.

I made 422 rwhp with ported 241s, ls6 intake and long tubes. fire your tuner. had 4.30 gears t56 , went 7.60s eighth mile...... drag rear suspension , on drag radials.

OP, it's not your gears that are the problem. Get that car to a better tuner asap

I'm running the same tune on the car that it had before the heads were put on. The only thing the tuner did recently was turned my front 02 sensors back on. I agree with you guys about the tuner. I thought I should have picked up between 15-25hp with the heads and the increase in compression.

My PRC215/MS4 set up would cut a best 1.64 on a 27" QTP . Went to 4.30s and a set of strange shocks started cutting 1.5x. A best of 1.51 and a worst of 1.59. My best ET/60ft comes from a 6500 dead clutch dump and 15psi. I think your trap speed is low. My car with a FAST 102 and single 4" exhaust with roughly 200lbs weight reduction went 10.92 @ almost 126 and 6.9x @ 98-99. DA was around 2000 feet. Gears will help it 60ft and the overall feel of the car but I think you've got a little bigger issue get it to a different tuner. Also my car hates being short shifted even though you can't really tell your doing it. Might be something to pay attention to next time at the track. My set up peaks at 6900.
