Records go to a minimum if not reset within two years. Don O'Malley held it at 9.85 last, nobody bumped it within 2 years so it went back to a minimum. Not much use in setting one, other than ego, since they no longer award points for setting them. Years ago an et record was same points as winning 2 rounds of eliminations. Not worth going through tear down, to most guys, for their name in National Dragster like it is now. We run off an index now. SS/JA index it 11.00, no problem there.
Had it back halved year before last. Eastexas Racecars did it. Vic & Dewayne Custer did a great job. Five years before that it was on 10.5" radials and stock suspension, and was just as fast on good tracks. Doesn't care what the tracks are like now. Thanks to Vic & Dewayne I think it would hook in a car wash. I fight big wheel stands now, not wheel spin.

You have never seen me say I was the fastest. But, ask around, I normally qualify near the top.

Not sure why I would owe you any kind of explanation, but if your fast enough that way, why spend more money? Marginal tracks in the 100 + degree summer days here in div 4 often made the starting lines unpredictable. That is the only reason I had it back halved. 90% of the time it was fine on 10.5"s and stock suspension.

Parts store springs (Moog, etc) are a universal replacement. If still available, might be the same deal from the GM dealer. You best bet would be taking calipers to a Camaro/Firebird salvage and measure used springs. The previous gen F body springs fit and are wound from smaller wire since those older F bodies are lighter cars.

They will only help on hot or cold, slick tracks.
Most cars I run with, and running those kinds of times, 60' almost a tenth quicker than that. A guy I race with runs a higher class SS car than I do runs 9.teens to 9.30s goes high 1.teens to very low 1.20s.
Your going enough MPH to go 8.90s.
Whose converter you using?
