Scales may hurt your feelings. Just like the lights at the end of the track. LOL.
That's fo real! all our friends still say my buddies car weighs 2900lbs but nobody will bet with me on it. I told em for $1,000 we will put the car on any set of calibrated scales they want. But the car weight 3080 w/o driver.

That's what I am saying, I've seen a car with a tubular chromoly front end with the frame rails shortened, nothing up front is what I am getting at. Nitrous car (no turbo kit weight). One Kirkey, lightweight carpet, no accessory drive, Holeshot wheels. Bare essentials race car (as much of a race car you can get and still drive it to the track).

I was the one reading the scale and it weighed in at 3025.

Where exactly can you cut up on these cars?

Doesn't the lightweight battery goes bad if you don't use it for several days or weeks?

The nitrous-n/a cars we build are usually in the low 2500 pound range(w/o driver), and that's with a front-to-rear 25.3 cage, filled LSX iron block, factory bumper covers and rear hatch. I can easily get these cars to 23xx with a aluminum block if we really needed to.

How much metal work are we talking? As in trimming the strut towers and things of that nature

I'm gunna get it on the scales. I'd like to make the car weigh 3200lbs without me. But I think 3300 should be obtainable without too much cutting and pain in the *** work. I'll save that for when the car becomes 3000lbs lol.

http://highperformancejunkies.com/pi...ght-reduction/

I was at 3100lbs in my black car and I still had the stock hood, full exhaust setup, stock windows, air bags, horn and front seats in. If you looked at the car when I put the rear seats in, first glimpse you would have no idea weight reduction was done

This was with a heavy Ford 8.8 rear end out back

LS1 to v6 block is maybe a 40lb difference if your lucky... cast iron vs aluminum

All I am going to say is it is a lot of work. There is a ton of metal in these cars and most of it can be removed, but you will need the proper tubing added to the chassis to make the car rigid and safe after the fact.

Look at the lineup of customer's we have and you will see that MWC consistently has the fastest cars!

We are now also producing a lot of carbon fiber parts to help the weight issue even further. Things never available before like 1 piece hardtop roof panels, and dash extension panels are selling now.

I plan on running bay bars simply so I can trim some metal from the front end. Even thought they are not needed to cert for 8.50s.

T-top and spare tire well are getting chopped out as well. Considered deleting the whole cowl since I was going to run optic armor up front and in the rear. Might as well just trim it or run normal lexan of course an extended hood would be in order. Front cowl has got to be worth something. Man this weight savings stuff gets out of hand quick.

That's right. There's some pics of that type of work we do on the MWC site. If you do it all the weight savings are pretty substantial.

Billet Specialties all the way around
Removed front sway bar
That's it.

That is with nobody in the car. So these cars can get in the 3100 lb zone with out much cutting up

My ws6 full weight on scales stock was right at 3600 lbs. The Trans Ams are definitely porkier stock for stock.
