Default 9 or 10" slicks?

I have a 93 mazda rx7.. almost ready to put in the forged ls6.. I expect it to be a 450ish hp motor. It has the t56 6 speed, and 3.90 gears, 50/50 weight distribution. I need to stick with a 15" (8" or 10" wide) wheel, and 26" rolling height. I'm looking at a hoosier 9" or 10" slick. which wheel and slick width would you choose? Thanks?

Make sure you get a slick that is for a manual Hot Rod.

I would run a 28x9x15 slick if it were my Hot rod.

Coach I dont think a 28 would fit. Though it is only 27.3 overall height.

I think a 28x9x15 and 4.30 gear would be ideal

Yeah, i'm almost positive the 28 is a no go, and i'm just going to stick with the 26".. The stock tire height is about 24.8" and the car is pretty low too. I could do 26x8 on 8" rim, 26X10 on 8" rim, or 26x10 on 10" rim.. which of the 3 would you choose, and mt or hoosier?

You'd go with the 10 on 8 inch rim instead of 10 inch rim? This would probably help with sidewall flex right?

All ya have to do to make them fit is a little bit of rubbin and cuttin.

It's always best to use the least amount of tire it takes to hook so my vote is with the 9". That should be more than enought tire...
GOOD LUCK...

I would suggest running the 9" tire on a 10" rim. I don't know what all it would take to fit a taller tire in the car, but the extra effort would probably yield much better results at the track.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the feedback.. I guess i'm leaning towards 9's on an 8" rim at this point... if i spin the 9's on launch, will they hop, or spin nicely? I still have a weak independent rear suspension, so i like the idea of lots of sidewall to help absorb shock, but also want something that will spin, vs. hop... any thoughts on MT vs. hoosier?
