Default 11.5" ET Streets make car swerve during shifs!

whats causing this?

11.5*16" et streets, tubeless

ive tried them from 13 psi to 28psi.. still veers hard (left or right i forget) when i hit the gas, and the opposite when i let off during shifts.

i know having skinnies may help this a bit, but i'm talking very bad contition.. i'm all over the track! its not safe and scary!

i'd like to resolve this before next season.

Its the combination of radial fronts and bias rear tires. About the only solution I found was going to a bias front when running the ET streets.

If you are running Z-rated front tires, it's a serious problem. The stiff sidewalls in front, with loose tires in back, feels like a rear flat.

Skinnies will improve it ALOT. Also try lowering front pressure for more give.

I have street 165R15 radials up front on my skinnies, and 15x26x11.5 ET Streets out back. At 15psi the car pretty straight.

At 11psi the car feels sloppy.

thats exactly how it feels! like im racing and doing 120mph on flat back tires!

so the only solution is to get skinnies eh?

i was hoping i could change the allignment front to rear or try tubes or lca location or even pinion angle.

When you run like 15 in back, and 30 in front (with radials in front), car will do that swervy thing on the highway going 65 mph too. I pump the ET Streets to 25psi for the street.

It still swerves at 28 psi and only when you gas it? When you do your burn out, do both tire's spin?

yes they both spin.. and yes it pulls left i believe when i let off to shift, and right when i hit the gas again.. whether the et's are at 15 or 28 they do the same..

it drives sraight as an arrow in same situation on normal back tires.

well i'll try dropping the psi of my front tires also..

You may look into a wider rim for 11.5" tires.I had the same problem with 31"x13" Goodyears on a 10" rim.I swiched to a 12" rim ,i couldnt belive the differance. For slicks go with the widest rim recomended for the tire, for the most stability at high speeds.11.5" MTs should be on a 10" rim.

So why does skinnies solve this problem? I'm curious for I have the skinnies and ET streets and it swayed a bit but it was OK. Kinda looked cool in the vid. Not the greatest feeling at 116MPH

My car did this really bad with the old solid roller motor and I had skinnnies up front. I was running 13psi in the 26x10x15 ET Drags out back and the car would swerve really bad in between shifts. Once I bumped the psi up some, the swerving pretty much went away. If you would have seen my 11.16@125.59 pass, you would have thought I was auto-crossing down the track. LOL BTW, once I put the stock motor back in, even at 13psi, the swerving was nearly gone. Kinda weird...

Another thing I love about Hoosier slicks. They're WAY more stable than ET Streets or ET Drags.

Stephen,

Do you mean the Quicktimes?

Since the person I borrowed my ET Streets to returned them well used I'm going to get the Hoosier 27" tire.

Are you talking only the slick or the street legal ones?

I'm talking about the full slick, although I bet their QT Pros are just as stable.

At least with the slicks I can assure you that Hoosier is doing something different than MT. It really is THAT noticable how much more stable they are. I run mine as low as 8 lbs and it's still not scary running 135 MPH.

Great. I ran radials/ET's before and it wasn't bad on the spray but the few times I've run the radials/ET's this year its been alot more unstable at high speeds.

How is it on skinnies? That will be the real test to see how stable it is, I hear its better, find out in a few months.

Could be this too. You have an M6. When you are shifting you are pulling slightly on the steering wheel causing the swaying motion.
Ask Jason99TA, he'll tell you. He is the only person I know that drives 1/2 mile down a 1/4 mile track. LOL We rag on Jason about this CONSTANTLY.

I brace my arm against the door to avoid this.

Hell sometimes I let go of the wheel a little when I shift
