Default M6 vs. A4 cars, which is heavier from the factory?

Just like the title asks. I'm looking at my car's numbers and it was 3560 w/ me in it pretty much stock save for skinnies and the spare out. Now I did some weight reduction and i'm getting down there, but when the numbers are ran from the Weight Reduction post, with the same stuff that my '98 Z had out, it looks like it's gonna be almost 100lbs heavier. My '98 Z A4 car was 3250 w/ me in it. My '99 is a 6speed car and looks like it'll be 3350. Is this normal for the M6 cars to weight heavier? Thanks

Chris

3250 with you in it? I assume you had taken a lot of weight out, right? My car is a 2002 Z28 1SC (stripper) model. It weighed 3,360 lbs delivered to the dealership with a 1/8 tank of gas. Now my car weighs 3,300 lbs with me in it, roll cage and all BMR parts.

PSJ, from everything I've ever read, the A4 is actually a little lighter. I've owned two A4s and one M6. My A4 cars were noticably a little lighter from the factory (granted, the M6 car was an SS.)

We should also consider than the factory TQ converter (55 lbs) is usually one of the very first things to be replaced when the mods start (9.5" aftermarket converters are typically 29-35 lbs.) That's a pretty serious weight loss.

T56 is heavier than the 4L60E but only slightly. (25 pounds I think?)

Yeah, 23-25 lbs rings a bell from a long time ago. I wonder if that's taking into consideration the clutch v/s converter?

yeah, i had a ton of stuff removed from the '98 auto car and I guess the converter is a big thing comparing between the two since i had a TP4400 in it. I know the numbers aren't spot on for everything in the list compared to everyone's cars, just was hoping to achieve that same weight if not lower with the addition of my k-member and hood.

shipping weight on my auto was 151lbs so minus roughly 10bs off that for shipping materials(rubbermaid storage container) I weigh almost everything I mess with on my car
