Can't fit Lokar dipstick with carbon fiber trans shield TH400
The fatter part of the dipstick before it goes round where the o-rings are, hits the shield so the angle is off and I can't push it in the hole.
I was going to take a grinder to the fat part of the dipstick - any other ideas before this gets sacrificed in an experiment?

It's one of those things that you really have no choice but to do, Tech won't like it but they're not going to see it. I personally only plan to use the shield until I freshen the Trans and at that point will be going to the Sfi case.
Not cheap but has several good points one small one is not needing the shield anymore

Well I currently have (unrelated) six stitches on my cheek. I was going to do this on the weekend, but, for safety sake I guess this will have to wait so no nasty things float into my fresh scar!
Or I can get someone to do it. Any volunteers?

It's literally impossible to put one of those on and not have to cut it at all. I have no idea if they will re-cert one that's been cut at all.... But I've never had a tech guy question he sfi # that I have written down on the laminated paper I hand them with every sfi number off the car ( balancer, flywheel, shield, seatbelts, window net, etc. Every tech guy looks at that, looks at the belts and helmet, usually asks about the kill switch working, makes sure the battery box is secure, and that's about it. They can usually tell if you have your **** together or not.
Nhra national event, or something big like that I'm sure it will be a more intense inspection... But again I highly doubt they're crawling under the car to look to see if the shield has been modded at all, or if it's in date or not. If they look they're looking for evidence it's there ( strap under the Trans pan)

Then how do people get away with sfi certified fuel cells that have the foam removed?
If I change the bolts in my SFI approved double beadlock wheels to titanium bolts are they now illegal?
I understand what you've getting at but believe me when I say there's no way to get that csr shield on with any lokar dipstick product, and sometimes you just can't get away with a rigid tube dipstick.
I don't condone/promote doing it, but like I said. Show up with a laminated list of every SFI item you have with the # and the "date" that it's good until, and see if anyone questions it. They will check your belts, helmet, see that those are up to date and the #'s match your paper, and if they do, likelihood is that you're going to pass.

I tried all that chief, it won't work without forcing the shield over which makes it fit like ****, and then it rubs on the floor in the car.
My dates are all out. But that BS is just that, BS. It's a scam to get money to re-inspect. Just like the seatbelt 2 year rule. Just a scam to make you keep buying belts.
