Just looking to see what types of issues one may have putting a tall deck into this body style. I have a full drag car, cowl is cut back to the windshield...but does that need cut as well?
What intake does everyone run on there tall deck? Or are spacers used?
I'm looking into a tall deck short block, i have a mid plate to clear the Lemons tall deck headers. But I also have the Mast LS3 4500 intake. I really do not want to get lexan and cut out the center section. I also have a pretty big cowl hood as well.
Just looking to see what people have done, any pictures would be great as well.
I dunno how tall the motor will be overall but I have a tall deck bbc in my car, I have the cowl deleted with a setup that looks similar to the one that Midwest sells. You will need to make room and will need to notch where the glass is at some level, no way around that.
Also, make sure you have at least 4 inches from the top of the TB to the hood, any less than that and you would be well served to just put a couple spacers under the TB and put a lexan forward facing scoop on, without it the airflow into the engine is going to suffer enough to slow the car/kill upper rpm power.

I really can't add any info on fitment in an f body, but I can add that I would do it. You have a race car so there really should be no problems "making **** fit". Now if this was some daily driver type **** that wanted to keep all the creature comforts then that would be a different story. In a drag race application, really the only con I can see that may possibly weigh a little more. That little problem should go away with the additional power created by the additional cubes.
Oem intake won't work without a spacer made since the heads are further apart.
If you're not willing to cut the car, don't put a tall deck motor in it., you will only be making a power compromise that will negate 1/2 the gains of going to the tall deck in the first place.

I guess you are right... 4th gens and their cowls.. I dont mind cutting the car, I just would like to stay OEM glass.. apparently OP also has the same idea.

I cut an access panel under the dash, and a patch plate screwed down. If I need to pull the intake I can take off the dash pad and pull the dist out the dash.
Ok makes sense. The heads looked like spread port but the intake side didn't, kind of threw me for a loop. Little bit older but as you know that doesn't mean a damn thing they make big power.
I have a set of Edelbrock 24 degree victor's on my tall deck 540, they look tiny compared to those.
The headers on your car how much of a **** show are those?
Nice setup man, i am going to be focusing on lightning up the front area like you did.
The headers are custom built 2 1/4 primary's from Sharadon Performance in Hugo MN.
They fit nice but ground clearance is a issue with the 4" case mufflers.
Do you have any pictures of the panels next to the hood / wiper area? I was looking into patching that area as well

I built these myself, first set I ever did from scratch. 2 3/8 stepped to 2 1/2 primary, they run into a flowmaster outlaw 2 collector muffler, and out the front.
what you have there looks nice but there's no way I could have put the collector mufflers I have under my car it would have been beating all over the ground just sitting there.
