Default Is the L18 good for a turbo drag set up?

So I'm getting ready to throw an ls into my 71 camaro for a turbo drag set up. I was wondering if the L18 truck engine would be a good option as far as aftermarket parts and being a decent budget build. I was considering going with a lq9 but I'm just considering options. Any help or advice on the L18 would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

No experience personally with one but a friend of mine is putting one in his '80 trans am. He tells me you can get aftermarket parts for them but they are expensive. Other than that, I know nothing of them. Be something cool and different though.

Early 2000's. They came in the heavy duty trucks. 496 CI and were very similar if not the same as the mercruiser boat motors.

No it's not an Ls family just a big block chevy and boat engine.GM put it in some HD trucks and sold it to marine engine manufacturers. The aftermarket for the 8.1 is extremely limited combined to traditional big block. It's not a very good swap for high performance application, great if you put it in a truck where you would want stump pulling torque, efi, and not great gas mileage. If I was the OP I'd stick to 6.0 Ls idea.

Yeah sounds like the 6.0 is his best bet.
Way more interchanging parts.
