Default Went to the track today!

The conditions in the track today were horrible, 30-40 miles wind, and 40 degrees. The wind holds the car very bad. At least with no wind 12.9x are real or a better burn out to make 1.90 60'. Going back Sunday morning to see if break 12s. The next year Im waiting my FTI 4k and swap to my th400! 👿

Nice run. You should start a thread to document your progress and what you're doing to the car so you can look back and see how things progressed.

It was in the 40's last night so D/A was in the negative 1400 - 1700 range. Perfect for a glory pass but I had bottle leak issues so no nitrous. Added founders lca and brackets in lowest position, mwc phb, viking rear c/o and new m/t 16x50x255 ss dr's. Car weighed 3460 with me in it and 3/4 tank of gas.

One pass at 13.09 and three in the 12.8x. New best n/a time of 12.846 @ 106.11 on a 1.816 60'.

I need to figure out the rear shock settings because the rear is bouncy. These have 16 settings. Fronts are set at 0 rebound and 8 compression. I started the rears at 4c/7r and it was bouncy. 6c/8r helped but I think I need more compreession.

A little frustrating at Lone Star Motorsports Park today. The guy who sells really good hot dogs wasn't there. Plus my nitrous filter leaked and I didn't get a decent nitrous pass.

Changes since last outing were hvac (entire system), air, egr (ebay kit), abs (sjm kit + line lock) and passenger side airbag delete. Now I can easily get at all the spark plugs. Didn't like the feel of the suspension last time out so ride height is now lowered so fenders are about one inch from the tires and switch from 14x175 rear Viking coilovers to 12x150. Car feels much better now.

Also used NANO for the first time but because of the nitrous filter leak and pre-track testing my bottle was empty. I couldn't use my second bottle because I stripped the push port threads trying to screw in the NANO check valve. Everyone has a special talent and mine is stripping threads. So I have to buy a new bottle valve, nitrous filter and will probably buy a third bottle as well. I thought nitrous was supposed to be cheap.

My N/A times are getting better. Best time was 12.84 at 107.71. Best 60' was 1.8529. Pushing the car through the staging lanes gained me one full 10th on my 60'. Likely won't be back out again until after April 15.

Thanks! Plan is 3.73 or lower if/when the 10 bolt goes and switch to a 9". The 10 bolt makes a little noise on decal but is holding so far. I really need a bigger stall but trying to hold out for a TH400. I have big plans but a little wallet.

I have heard 3.73 are no better than 3.42 and you lose a good RPM in cruising speeds. MY 10 bolt has been screaming for 20 thousand miles. I mean screaming.

Yes, the next time it rains. Otherwise no. You have to see the paint in person to see why. I have a GTO to detail all I want.

No cruising in this car. Especially this Summer with no a/c. It has to be the slowest race car in Houston but it's a blast and gets me laughing every time. $2K car and who cares if it breaks. I'm itching to turn the nitrous up and see how much it can take.

Finally got out again last night. New plugs BR6EF 35 gap, rebuilt the nitrous solenoid, new nitrous filter, LNC set to pull 3 degrees of timing, NANO, 32/18 nitrous jetting (75 shot). Car weighed 3,085 lbs on the track scale with ½ tank of gas and no nitrous bottle; 3315 race weight; 3,350 with nitrous and NANO bottles.

First and only N/A pass was 13.148 @ 104.15 on a 1.865 60’. D/A was about 1,885. Consistent with previous N/A runs considering the D/A.

Two passes with NANO kit yielded a 12.61 @ 109.32 on an 1.848 60’ and D/A of 1,755; and 12.829 @ 108.65 on an 1.865 60’ and D/A of 1,755. I am disappointed with the NANO but I’m probably doing something wrong so I’m going to post in the nitrous forum for some advice.

Then four passes on a fresh bottle without NANO - 41/18 jets:
12.437 @ 112.58, 1.860 60’ and 1,523 D/A. That’s more like it.

12.016 @ 112.92, 11.800 60’ and 1,368 D/A. New personal best! Difference was a small decrease in D/A and a long wait in the staging lanes so the car cooled down and not started until moving into the burnout box. I always get great results in these situations. I get all my best times after a long cool down, after sunset and not starting the car until the very last minute. I am convinced this prevents the computer from reading high IAT’s and pulling timing on the hit.

Two final back to back runs 12.534 @ 112.14 and 12.495 @ 112.13

I was able to monitor my AFR on one of my nitrous runs and it stays in the 12’s. 12.8 decreasing to 12.4 on the top end.

Considering the D/A and how others were saying their cars were running slow, I’m happy overall but frustrated with the NANO.

I ordered a computer to use solely for racing and tuning software. I need to get a good camera mount inside the car. Try to get the NANO working and get some more passes on the 75 shot.

I took it to the car wash a couple of weeks ago and asked for a wash and vacuum to get some of the dirt out of the gutted interior. The look on the guy's face was funny. I did get a $5 discount because of the stripped interior but I gave it back in a tip.

Tonight I only got three runs in because of numerous track shut downs and it started sprinkling so I left. On one of the first runs a new Camaro burned at the end of the track. Felt bad for the guy. Another guy broke at the 330 mark. Felt bad for him too until he did the same thing his next run.

All three on regular nitrous. D/A was between 1,850 - 1,940. Two runs at 12.2x @ 113. One 12.549 @ 112.5. There was an hour between each run and pushed through the staging lanes. Pleased with the 12.2 runs considering the D/A.

I mounted a cell phone to the roof to try to video the AFR but it was real shaky and I couldn't quite make it out. I saw some 14's at launch before the nitrous came on and then 13.x when the nitrous came on tapering into the 12's. So I increased the fuel jet to 19. I don't like them that high.

First run was against a nice T/A that had at least a cam. I got a 0.027 light but he left me and ran an 11.8 to my 12.2.

I ordered HP tuners pro and email tuning from PatG. Hopefully I'll be able to data log and wire the wideband to HP tuners.

Four passes last night. Just looking for some consistency on the 75 shot and better reaction times. Lots of street cars and trucks and first timers and they kept doing burnouts on street tires in the water box. So there was water slung all over the place. The track crew did a decent job of cleaning it out but there were several track shutdowns.

I richened the fuel jet to 20F on the first pass, resulting in a 12.584 @ 112.31. D/A of about 1,850. I felt a little wheel spin so I dropped tire psi to 15 lbs cold and lowered the compression in the rear coilovers a click. Also dropped the fuel jet back to 18F. That made a big difference. Second run was 12.160 @ 113.55 (best mph yet). D/A dropped a little to 1,800 and the car was cooled down for the run. Last two runs were 12.22x @ 113. Starting to get some consistency as I have a better routine for cooling between rounds.

Still waiting on HP Tuners to ship. Tuner said they are on back order. Planning on a conservative N/A tune and a second tune for nitrous that pulls no timing for IAT, then tune for nitrous with the LNC2000 and jetting. It will be nice to be able to data log runs.

It’s also time to order another set of drag radials. Going to stick with the M/T 26” 255’s for now. Also bought a new vehicle that can tow tonight. Will start looking at trailers. That will help a lot on track nights.

12.22 pass. This video is shaky but has a better shot of the launch. The driver's side spins slightly more that the passenger side, which shows up in tire wear. Guess the 222k posi is favoring one side. Car doesn't leave super efficiently and probably costs a few hundredths in the 60'. You can see it dip/squat a little.
