Default SlumAro meet World Cup Finals

World Cup/Import vs Domestic is a huge race each November in Southern Maryland at MIR. Maryland international Raceway. More info found here http://www.importvsdomestic.com

I've been steadily working and building on my Camaro (affectionately called the SlumAro) the last 2 years. A lot of time wrenching and money have went into this car to take it from totally stock to where it is now. It is still a work in progress. When I get done building a car or bike I lose interest in it so I'm building this one in stages.

It is still original LS1 rebuilt, 806 heads home ported, Martin 223/227 cam, FAST 102, speed density, Yank 4K. Chassis is all MWC. 9", complete tubular front end, race craft spindles, MWC chromoly 8.50 cage, strange brakes.

Back to World Cup, they have a pretty cool all motor class that I'm gonna run in. More details on classes here http://www.importvsdomestic.com/rulebook/
Lots of stipulations on the LS cars although they did lighten up the rules a bit this year. Still have to run a plastic intake, gm casting heads (can have ported now on ls1. Only 3 cars out of 40 are Gm cars. Maybe a few of the Mustangs will be LS powered but it's flooded with sbf and coyote mustangs and Hondas. Most cars qualifying in the mid to high 9's. Keep in mind good air at MIR in November is 1000 to 2000 - DA. Should be able to run my best times down there. Pretty sure it's gonna be hard to make it far in the race given all the race cars and mine still a street/strip car. I'm thinking with a purpose built engine the car could be really competitive.

Since I signed up for this race I wanted to make the car as competitive as possible with the mild engine that's in it. So I made an 4" intake tube for max air. I'll fit right in with all the Hondas down there lol. I'm gonna sand it matte and paint the velocity stack black so it looks a little more subtle and doesn't look as rice. Also gonna trim up a radiator shroud I have laying around to fit also.

Ditched the catback and cutout and just went with a single 3 1/2 pipe into a straight thru muffler.

Been trying to find ways to get down to the 2950 minimum weight requirement for the class. Had these for a while just haven't got a chance to switch them. 16lbs less weight for the MWC connectors.

Got the Momo wheel on tonight. Factory wheel with airbag is heavy. Went from 8lbs to around 2-3lbs.

Yep I pre registered. Filled up real fast this year. Are you entered in?
I have to get a vid and send it to them. They said you can run when you get there to meet the minimum et.

We'll be there.

X/H with Litz. Hoping to be the second car to go 6's in X275 trim.

You have to pay for the early testing if you don't have the ET Confirmation done. Next year its going to get even tighter.

Damn that's badass! Should be a great opportunity to do it if the air is right. Track prep is always great down there

Yea I'm going Friday to dial in the suspension so I'll get a vid then. Not gonna pay the $200 to run down there for a day or even worse it rain and then no chance to pass min et.

Well I finally got back to the track to get the suspension and launch dialed in. Was rewarded with some new pb times and mph. Got my minimum et requirement vid for World Cup (10.99 and faster) and weighed the car. Car ran great and the weather was nice for a change. 1000-1100 DA during the day. Can still take 80lbs out of the car to get down to the 2950 race weight.

2950 is light as hell! Thats the same minimum weight for my race class in SCCA, gonna have to do some major cutting to get there. I cant go full tubular front though, have to keep the stock A Arms (gay). 10.48 is moving out on some small cubes NA!

Yea I'm not gonna say it was cheap to get the car that light but I can say I have not hacked up one thing on the car. 0 hole saw. If you pay close attention to all the details you can get your car that light too. I'm at 3030 right now race weight. That is maybe 2-3 gallons of gas. I'm gonna change my front wheels and tires, (that will be 30lbs total), lightweight battery -25lbs and optic armor rear glass -25lbs. That should put me right at 2950 for the race.

Congradulations so far on your car. Making power is fairly easy but the dedication and work it takes to get a car that light and still looking good inside and out is a different story.

I've been working on going over the car while its a rolling chassis and cutting out every last un-needed bracket and doohickey that I can find while still making it look clean. Lexan rear window on a VFN hatch, complete wiring harness removed and custom wired by me with the absolute minimum amount needed, etc. Iron block isn't going to help things any.

Well I got back to the dyno yesterday for some tweeking. Found 10hp 6ftlbs tq with race gas and 2 more degrees timing and a bit more fuel. He really worked on dialing in the tune and sped up the 2-3 shift a bit.

Also got back to the track last weekend and the air was a bit better. Car went a little quicker and good amount faster. Might be able to crack 130mph at WC.

We'll be there Thursday for testing, we won't be hard to find.
