Remote battery disconnect legal for nhra?
Hi they won't let me run at the track until I get a batt switch since mines in the trunk. I went with a remote switch because I didn't want holes in my trunk, and I run a 4 ga alt wire and didn't want to run it all the way back. Will this pass tech? You basically apply ground and it turns switch on.

Hmm, that's a good question. A track that was local to me, made you rev the car up to 2000rpm and then they would hit your switch. It HAD to kill the car to pass tech. This was also a good way to see if people ran their alternator wire back to the wrong post. As the car will continue to run if you did this.

It kills the car. It's hooked up like its supposed to be but its switched remotely. You hit switch in back, car dies , along with fuel pump, alt etc... Rules say must be hooked to pos side, must kill all power, no plastic switches. I guess I'll find out weds night. The tech guy told me to check out painless, that they had a few different options. Hopefully this works. I really want to see what I run with the whipple

I can't tell from the pictures, too grainy on my phone, but if it's a rotary switch then no. Has to be a push/pull style and it has to be push-off. I think it has to be on the rear of the car as well, but I'm not 100% there. Current rule book is only like 10 bucks or something, may be able to find it online for free.

NHRA rule is push/pull style on rear of vehicle. Must be push off. If the car is on fire they want to be able to just grab a broom and from 4 feet away push the power off. its the safest way.
On another note, If you don't want some rod hanging out of the back of your nice street car every day, then you do what my buddy did. Place the hole somewhere that it can be hidden. behind a license plate or part of a piece of trim that can be removed. when your not at the track you un-thread the rod that sticks thru and cover your hole back up by putting the license plate back on. on the street the car looks factory. I've even seen a guy have 2 passenger side tail lights. at the track the rod goes right thru the tail light lens. on the street he takes the rod off the switch and puts a factory tail light back on the car.

It dosnt have to be push pull , it can be reg switch . There are plenty of nhra batt switches that reg on off switch .do a quick google search as long as it's at rear of car and is clearly marked

I'd say that as long as they can see it and get to it relatively easily they won't complain too much.
No labeling or its hidden with no way to tell its there they're probably going to complain more. Push on/off sticker or some kind of label that can be seen easily is a big thing also.
