Going to the track sat! Diff psi for dr's ????? Going back to the track this sat to try to beat my 12.3. Gonna to be colder out. Last time i ran 20psi semi cold with a 2 sec burnout with no water. Hooked very well. As the night went on my 60ft times were getting slower due to tire spin(colder track temp). What changes should I make? Longer burnout? Lower pressure? I said semi cold on tire pressure due to my tires aren't totally cooled down when I set them. Tracks 1.5 hours away. What warm psi should I set them at as soon as I get there? That would be easier! I'm running nt05r's on a Bolton/yank 3600 t/a I know a lot of questions lol Thx :) |
This past spring I went to the track and the track temps were 40 degrees on a cloudy day. I was running Mt et streets at 17 psi and did a John force burnout every pass in the water box and dead hooked every pass. Don't be afraid to heat the shit out of them if need be. Long third gear burnout and get the smoke rolling if that is what it takes to hook |
Thx for reply! What psi should I set them at as soon as I get there? Dont want to set psi cold before I leave as I as a bit of a drive! Did you improve your e.t. with the colder temps? |
If you have a friend with a car have him come with you in his car. Have him do a burnout from about one foot behind the starting line all the way across it and keep on going like he just messed up. the starting line will be supper sticky as you come up next to stage. Not sure if your track will hassle him for doing it or not, but our local track could care less. |

After your first pass they will probably jump up to around 19psi due to the heat then after you drop them back down to 17 psi after the first pass you should be good. Yes the colder air helped. Previous best in 1500 da was 12.4@109. On the 40 degree day the da was around 0 and I ran consistent 12.2@111 mph |

I would drop them right down to 17 psi when you get there. Then check after first pass, drop back down to 17 psi. then again after second pass. Best advice to give, is you should run the highest psi that still sticks to the track. So with that being said, start low and then work your way up. I'm guessing you are on a Low profile DR? Those don't benefit as much as a taller tire. A taller tire can wrinkle much better with lower pressure. Start at 20 psi cold. Make a pass and check them. You should be at 21-22 psi warm. If they hook, go with it. If they spin, drop in 1 psi increments until they hook. 14 psi is the lowest I'd try. If you still can't hook, time to look at your suspension. All you need is to see some decent smoke off the tires. If A4 w/linelock, roll just out of the water and start the burnout in 2nd. Come up on rpm on the brake and hammer down. When it hits close to redline, feather throttle for a second, disengage line lock and hammer down for 5ft or so. You should notice the smoke and have plenty of heat in the tire. (A consistent burnout results in consistent ET's.) All a John Force burnout does is waste money on tires. |

Pretty much this, but think you got it kind of backwards. It's easier to lose air at the track than gain. Start at 20 psi cold. Make a pass and check them. You should be at 21-22 psi warm. If they hook, go with it. If they spin, drop in 1 psi increments until they hook. 14 psi is the lowest I'd try. If you still can't hook, time to look at your suspension. |
All good advice! Hoping I can lower my 1.78 60ft a tad. Pretty sure I can do better then my 12.365 . Sh-t I'll be happy with a 12.299 lol. I've been watching d/a for last couple weeks and I'm taking a guess it's gonna be in the 1100-1400 range. |

1 Attachment(s) Can't remember? Should def be cooler sat. Plan on getting there early. Found another slip. Guess my best was a 12.323 |
My A4 with 4k stall and stock 2.73s pulled a 1.68 60' with a 12.29 run on et streets on stock snowflake rims. Car is a 2000z and at that time it had kooks headers and true duals, lid, tune, sfcs, lcas, built 4l60e and FTI hard hit 4000 stall. My best 60' came with 17 psi and a good size burnout. Never ran Nitto, but I think you probably need some heat in them. But I do know every car with drag radials has its sweet spot, and when you adjust your tire pressure between runs to get the best 60' make sure you only adjust around 2 psi. Don't jump around the place with tire psi. I hooked at 17 psi, and spun at 20 psi to give you an example. |

If I got the right one, ESTA park dragstrip it was -166. Today at the same time it was 350 ft. |
