Default 28" ET drag won't fit...help

Im trying to get some 28-10.5 ET drags to fit under my 02 Ws6. I've trimmed the bumper some and have adjustable lca but I'm still only around a 1/8-1/4 away from the body. Is this going to be enough clearance so the tire doesn't grow into the body? Some people run 29s but I don't see how. Any idea what I'm doing wrong. Housing is stock width and I'm on a 10" racestar.

I like 1" of clearance for a 28 10.5 up to 180 mph. They will grow at least 0.75". Sometimes more plus the rear can move some. Easy method is to take a 1" diameter wooden dowel 12" long and make sure it will travel over the tread. Cutting tires is no fun. Been there done that.

Little tap on the bottom may be needed or you may need to pull the rear back a little and trim the inner part of the rear bumper cover where it wraps inwards.

You will need 1 inch clearance minimum because it will grow. If you can get a wheel that will pull the tire in farther, or shorten the rear end axles. Most just rubber hammer it in.

Beat the hell out of my inner most rear wheel tub and cut out the bump stops also adjustable LCA help center the wheel up. My rear is narrowed and didn't cut any of the bumper.

The problem with mine is the rear bumper. It's extremely close in the area where the bumper meets the quarter. I've got the rear pulled as far to the front as the control arms will let me and I still only have at most 3/8 of a inch.

If it's the portion that curves inward that will need trimming on a transam. I let cover. Easily done with a dremel
