Me and my wife bracket race every weekend.

I've been searching for days for something like this. I noticed cars at Numidia this past weekend running a second shifter setup to do the same thing .

I'd love to see a pic of what your using on the other end of the car. I've been thinking of using a choke cable or something similar.

I was starting to wonder if there were any bracket racers left on here

The cable is from Tractor Supply, the trick is making it work on efi. My original setup was mounted to the water pump, when I switched to an electric water pump I mounted it to the head. I can take more pics but it is kind of hard to explain. My wife does not use this setup and she does very good. She can stage her car at 2020 rpm and it stays right there. She does not bring the car up until she is ready to light the second bulb where I don't bring mine up until I light both bulbs. Both ways work.I will be at Numidia for the Bracket Finals in September.

Follow-up on the Hawk brake pads mentioned earlier (post #18): Was able to hold the car to 3000 RPM with no problem. Thats at least 800 RPM higher over NAPA semi-metallic pads. A lot of brake dust, but the pads do work so I'm not complaining

I'm sure staging would be more precise if converted to manual brakes - that will be a winter project.

Thanks for following up.

Were you're reaction times better leaving higher?

Yes - the difference between 2200 and 2500 RPM was noticeable with our 4200 stall converter. The best / most repeatable staging technique I found so far was to get into the beams at 1800-2000, which preloads the chassis. Then bring the RPM up to the 2500 launch rpm. This doesn't always get me into the beams at precisely the same spot (hard to just blink the stage bulb on), but it's as good as I can do with power, stock brakes.

I really want to keep the stock brakes on the car, but will probably break down and get a manual brake conversion kit and proportioning valve. Those big front calipers and rotors are no match for the rears, so I think shifting some of that braking to the rear will help. It's a work in progress. Open to ideas...

I use this https://www.raptorperformance.com/pr...t-launch-light

Works pretty good. I bring rpm to 2000 using the light and bump in.

nj02z, do you just hammer down while holding pressure on the cable and the throttle overrides the cable when it surpasses the stop?

I'd be interested in a picture of the handle and where the cable is routed, etc.

Yes, when I go wot it overrides the stop .What I do is stage the car around 2000 then when I put the second bulb on I pull the lever which sets my full launch rpms. The cable is routed where me hvac was. The cable is mounted to my center console close to my shifter.
