Default Very strange wear patterns on my drag radials

I tried calling Hoosier directly but their resident drag racing guy is out until next week.

The picture shown below is one of my brand new 315/35/17 Hoosier drag radials taken last night after the third pass.

The reason this first caught my eye is because it appears I'm not getting a full contact patch straight across the tire. For some strange reason there's a thin strip that looks like it barely got touched during all three burnouts. My initial thought was that it might be an alignment issue but that doesn't seem to explain why the area closest to the sidewall (just to the left of the "clean spot") does show wear, in other words how and why is there only that thin strip that didn't make contact?

The guy at Hoosier was able to at least confirm I was running the correct size rim (17x11) which rules that out as a possible cause. I'm running 18.5psi which he thought might have been a bit low but I won't be able to try out a higher psi until the race this coming Monday to see if it might make a difference.

Has anybody ever seen anything like this and/or have any suggestions? I later checked the other side and it looks almost the exact same as this one.

Did you you have odd wear with your previous tires?

Yes, but in reverse if that makes any sense.

While racing this past weekend I notice that the cords starting showing through on just my left tire and in basically the same spot that currently looks untouched after the three burnouts.

Have the alignment checked. 18psi should be fine.

That's kinda what I figure I'll end up having to do. Even if it doesn't ultimately end up fixing the problem at least I'll be able to rule it out as a possible cause.

This pic was from last year:

Too much negative camber. Should be as close to "0" as possible for drag racing. Often hard to do without aftermarket control arms.

Though it is hard to argue with a 1.34 60' on an IRS car! Nice pass!
